The Spider Guild is a race of spider-like aliens from a distant civilization. In Frontier Space, they operate a privatized penitentiary. However, they subjected their prisoners to their worst moments in life with a headband device then feasted on them. To compound matters, they discovered a Yellow Mineral that possessed an unique ability to nullify a Green Power Ring. The Spider Guild members stationed at the prison were defeated by Hal Jordan, Kilowog, and Razer. They were then imprisoned in their own prison cells.
The Spider Guild captured Neuroxsis, one of the universe's most wanted assassins. While the Guild transported him aboard a frigate, Sinestro infiltrated the ship and extracted Neuroxsis under orders of the Guardians of the Universe. The Guild believed Sinestro illegally seized one of their captives and opened fire on Sinestro. Sinestro hailed the Interceptor for an exit. The Guild warned the Interceptor not to assist Sinestro or else their action would be perceived as a hostile act as well. The Interceptor proceeded to the starboard tower to get Sinestro out. Neuroxsis took possession of captain and activated the frigate's self-destruct sequence. As a result, the frigate and everyone aboard was destroyed.
