Metropolis is famed as the most advanced city in the United States of America but later became home to Superman. In the Flashpoint timeline, Kal-El's ship crashed into the city and left a huge crater. The government took baby Kal-El into custody and Project Superman was built underground. For 30 years, various tests were run and cloning attempts ended in failure. Kal-El grew up alone in a room filled with red sun radiation. Cyborg, Batman, and the Flash extracted him and attempted to flee.
