With Krypton's impending end coming, Zor-El and Alura constructed a rocket ship after their daughter Kara was not chosen for the colonizer program but it could only hold one occupant and their supplies. They embraced their daughter Kara one last time and had her sit in the ship. Alura placed her Mnemosyne Crystal necklace on Kara then closed the hatch. Kara was launched off Krypton and survived. The blast wave of Krypton's destruction knocked Kara unconscious and the ship was sucked into a wormhole. The ship drifted through the Phantom Zone while she was in hypersleep. She fell almost two decades behind on the estimated Earth arrival time. Kara had little memory of the journey to Earth 21.7 light years away. Superman sensed Kara's spacecraft crashing into the atmosphere and rescued her. Superman decided it would for the better if she got used to life on Earth before he told her everything he knew. At 0900 hours, it was reported a Kryptonian ship landed near Smallville on Earth. A female occupant was also reported but was initially unidentified. The Metropolis Junior Detective Society took up the case.
Supergirl decided to use the rocketship for her Mechanics, Robotics, and Automotive workshop project and added new modifications to it. Lena Luthor, the new I.T. girl, noticed gunk on the hull and wiped it off. Supergirl thanked her and mentioned dust from Krypton crystallized and stuck to everything. She soon got Batgirl's emergency call and took off in the rocketship. The homing tech took right to Killer Moth's hideout. She opened fire and created a gaping hole in the side of the building. After Moth was tied up, Batgirl and Supergirl departed in the rocketship. Supergirl departed from Super Hero High with Big Barda and Lady Shiva for Smallville in the rocket ship at the start of summer break. Amid preparations for the Vehicle project deadline, Supergirl did some last minute touches with her heat vision. She connected an aquamarine and fuschia wire and accidentally launched a defense missile.
Supergirl prevented it from landing in Metropolis but it blew up Super Hero High's I.T. office. While she flew around Metropolis, the ship's Kryptonian Proximity Alert was triggered. Supergirl was so surprised she lost concentration and nearly flew into Wayne Enterprises. Batgirl checked the ship out and confirmed the alert was activated. She believed it was just broken but a Save the Day alarm went off. After Christmas, Supergirl piloted her ship and escorted Hal Jordan off planet for his trip to Oa. For a trip to Oa, Jessica Cruz was accompanied by Supergirl, Big Barda, and Star Sapphire. They launched in Supergirl's rocket ship. Since it was outfitted with a hyper-jump drive, the journey to Oa light years away would be greatly reduced. With one more hyper-jump to go until they reached the Oa Space Region, the girls discovered they had a sleeping hitchhiker in the rear. It was Beast Boy. They performed the last hyper-jump but Supergirl forgot to adjust calculations for Beast Boy's added weight and they ended up in the middle of an asteroid belt.
After the ship took a hit on the starboard side, Star Sapphire and Green Lantern Jessica Cruz were dispatched to clear a path. They landed the ship in Oa's Welcome Center but no one was around.
