Humphry Dumpler's grandmother lived at 15 Hawthorne Avenue in Gotham City. Some time after his house was demolished and he fled protective custody, Dumpler began living at 15 Hawthorne. His grandmother died under suspicious circumstances. For some time, Dumpler used the house to formulate his revenge against those who wronged him. Batman eventually found the address and scanned Dumpler's toy soldiers in order to find a harmonic frequency to nullify the resonance in the explosive shell material.

Over six months later, Dumpler kidnapped Batman, Katana, Tobias Whale, Commissioner Gordon and Mayor Grange. He deposited them into three rooms in the house and subjected them to a murder mystery game. They were forced to navigate the house, which had been heavily remodeled. It was armed with elaborate death traps and technology. Eventually, Batman used one of the rooms to his advantage and defeated Dumpler. Batman and Katana left the home as Harvey Dent's Special Crimes Unit approached.
