Battleaxe is a warrior who fights with her namesake. She has taken on several apprentices. Her three favorites are Cheryl Dorne, her first apprentice, Lai Kung, who she taught samurai combat, and her most recent protege, Christine Banner. At some point, Katana defeated Battleaxe in honorable combat. She was imprisoned at the Gotham Supermax Prison. Battleaxe was sure Katana had cheated and initiated a plan to take revenge. Her most recent apprentice Christine Banner posed as Katana and began murdering mob bosses. With Katana and the mob bosses out the way, Battleaxe believed she would assume leadership of the criminal underworld once she was released. Batman and Katana captured Banner before the plan was completed. Battleaxe was not pleased to see Banner arrive as her new cellmate.
