The Gotham Museum is located on Lake in Gotham City. During a dig underwritten by the Wayne Foundation, Cyborg's radar helped locate Inca relics, including the Inca Rose Stone. The Gotham Museum made Cyborg their guest of honor at a gala event unveiling the "Lost World of the Incas," the new Inca installation. Commissioner Gordon took precautionary measures and set up a small police force in the museum the day of the gala. They stood guard since the afternoon. That night, Cyborg met Gladys Windsmere then Bruce Wayne. Houston Raines, the master of ceremonies, started the festivities but was interrupted by the Joker. The police aimed their laser sights on him but the Tyrannosaurus Rex suddenly came to life and attacked. As guests cleared out, the dinosaur revealed itself to be Clayface all along. In the panic, Joker stole the Inca Rose Stone. Clayface posed as Windsmere and left the museum.
Some time later, Batman and Red Robin battled Scarecrow at the Gotham Museum near a mammoth exhibit. After being disarmed of his sickle, Scarecrow threw a dose of Fear Toxin into Red Robin's face and ran for it. Robin motioned Batman he was okay. He felt the effects of the toxin as he staggered to catch up to Batman and Scarecrow. Portraits in the halls turned into his worst fears like huge piles of dirty laundry and unlimited homework. Robin freaked out and threw a punch, randomly connecting with Scarecrow and knocking him out in the parking lot. Killer Croc and a gang of punks stole artifacts from the museum but they were unaware Batman followed them inside until it was too late. Batman easily knocked out the punks but was forced to retreat when Killer Croc injected himself and grew huge. Croc burst through walls and exhibits and erupted from the entrance. Batman used a special Batarang to tase Croc into submission.
