Bumbershoot Mechanics is a technology firm owned by Oswald Cobblepot. As part of his plan to steal the gold core of the Midas Heart, Cobblepot hired Dr. Kirk Langstrom to work at Bumbershoot and oversee production of Cyber-Animals, unmanned robots designed for exploration and retrieval. After the Animilitia finished planting 12 force field transmitters around Gotham City, they gathered at Bumbershoot and waited for the Penguin. With less than 20 hours before the Midas Heart passed Earth, Batman and Nightwing infiltrated the company building from the rooftop vent and searched for Langstrom. From a roof across Bumbershoot, Green Arrow created a diversion. The extraction didn't go as planned once Batman realized Man-Bat was Langstrom. Penguin tasered Nightwing from behind and had Killer Croc toss him from a window. While Batman hauled Man-Bat, the rest of the Animilitia left Bumbershoot for the Aviary. Batman and Nightwing later fought Silverback, armed with a new energy blaster harness, at Bumbershoot.
