The Batplane is modified fighter jet used by Batman. It was utilized during the flight to and assault on the Aviary's force field. Once the field went down, Batman and his allies worked on a way to save the city from the Midas Heart asteroid. He took the Batplane to the roof and rewired the antenna used to fire a tractor beam. The plan worked but Man-Bat was turned human in the process. Batman saved Langstrom in the Batplane and flew him to safety. A few nights after Halloween, the Batplane was one of many to be infected by Joker's Digital Laughing Virus. It attacked Batman and his allies at the Gotham Boardwalk on Joker's orders. The plane fired missiles. Nightwing used the nearby fairground displays for leverage and jumped on the roof of the plane. He used a knife implement in his escrima stick to cut into the hull then punched some circuitry. The Batplane died out and dropped into the bay below.

Batman later fought Mr. Freeze in his Batplane. He first destroyed the right arm of Freeze's Ice Blast Armor with a thermal blast then fired two rockets that latched onto the armor. It overheated the armor past 300 degrees. Freeze impaled the Batplane with five large icicles and forced Batman to eject. Batman, in his Battle Armor, flew to a swamp near the city and confronted Solomon Grundy before he could harm three fishermen. Once Grundy was taken care of, Batman flew the Batplane back to the city. The Batmobile and Batplane were combined into one vehicle that could switch back and forth. Batman revealed the new feature to Robin after the Batmobile was picked up by a giant Killer Croc and thrown. They flew the Batplane back to Gotham Harbor and fired missiles at Chemo but they had no effect. Batman flew the place above Chemo, turned the jets off, and turned them back on just as the plane dropped in front of Chemo's face. Chemo was blasted in the face and took notice.

Batman left Robin to distract Clayface. Robin voice activated the Batplane and fired missiles at Clayface then the gun array. Clayface reformed and clocked the Batplane. Robin made a hard landing and changed the plane back into the Batmobile. Kirk Langstrom added modifications to the newest Batmobile and Batplane. They could swap parts on the run with each other through its touch screen. The Batmobile could borrow the Batplane's thrusters or wings or could lend its blasters to the Batplane. Even without its wings and extra thrusters, the Batplane can still achieve flight. Batman piloted the plane while being chased by Killer Croc. He led Croc on a collision path with Chemo, who was chasing Nightwing at the same time.

Batman flew the Batplane in the battle against Mr. Freeze after he froze the city. He fired two missiles into the Freeze-Mech's chest but Freeze angrily blasted the plane's engines. Batman joined the plane's parts with the Batmobile, driven by Nightwing, and jumped in. Together, they took down Freeze. In the Batplane, Nightwing opened an attack on giant Bane and Killer Croc as they assaulted Arkham Asylum. While the Bat Mech and Arrow Mech handled them, the Batplane cut off Joker, Penguin, and Scarecrow's escape and recaptured them with a net.
