The Bat Mech is a giant robot driven by Batman. The cockpit can be entered from the rear of the mech's head. Batman approached Dr. Kirk Langstrom to adapt the Wayne Enterprises Drilling Mech and engineer his own personal version. In the summer, the Penguin and Mr. Freeze attacked Gotham City with a new type of Venom that turned Killer Croc, Clayface, and Bane into giants. Langstrom insisted the Bat Mech wasn't ready. Given the situation at hand, Batman told him to consider it a field test. As they descended to the Workshop below Wayne Enterprises, Langstrom revealted he thought the magnetometer might be miscalibrated and some of the servos were registering at sub-optimal PSI readings. Batman reminded him he saw the specs and believed he could handle it. Batman was surprised to see Green Arrow ordered his own mech, as well, under the claim it was back up to the Bat Mech. Langstrom began booting them up and prepared to deploy. Langstrom confirmed the actuator systems were nominal, E systems were 100%, and weapon systems were online. The mech's rockets and wings activated.

The Bat Mech landed elsewhere in the city and took on Killer Croc. He was later joined by Bane, who grabbed the Mech in an arm hold. He attempted to pry the Mech open but a missile launcher on its back fired at Bane. Bat Mech continued the fight against Croc. It tossed him, knocked in on the head, picked him up by the tail then slammed him unconscious. It turned to Bane but he flipped the mech. It suffered a system overload and went offline. Batman got Bane talking while he restarted the mech. It caught Bane's right fist, crushed it then uppercut him with its left. Bane got the mech in a bear hug and tried to break it but the mech bashed his ears. He tossed it then bashed it with a propane truck. They traded throws. The mech then fired its gauntlet at Bane and severed his feeder tubes. He hit Bane with a flying elbow then punched him repeatedly. He powered the gauntlet and punched Bane at full power then pulled Bane back with a grapple line and clotheslined him. The police restrained Croc and Bane after the shrank back to normal size.

Bat Mech converged on the docks and saved Arrow Mech from Chemo with an uppercut. The mech was no match for Chemo's spinning attack and its left arm suffered severe damage. It activated the arm's self-destruct sequence and threw it at Chemo. The Bat Mech took Arrow Mech's left arm and successfully attached it. Bat Mech used its cannon to crack Chemo's chest for the first time. It punched the crack repeatedly. Green Arrow exited his mech and made for the highest point he could find among the rubble then shot several exploding arrows into Chemo's crack. Bat Mech pulled out its fuel siphoner from its left leg then drained Chemo until the tanks reached 100% then Chemo shut down. Green Arrow caught a ride on Bat Mech as it returned to the city then grabbed Drill Tank being used by Penguin and Buzz. With the crisis over, Batman returned the mech to the Workshop. Langstrom began preparations to replace the forward actuators and add new struts along the port side. He saw the Arrow Mech's arm on the Bat Mech and sighed. He convinced himself he could fix it then was aghast at the wrecked Arrow Mech lying on the ground.

It came to the Arrow Mech's aid after Killer Croc knocked it on its back. The Bat Mech grabbed Croc by the tail and swung him around. Arrow Mech recovered and knocked Croc out with a right punch. After diverting a gigantic Bane from destroying buildings in his path, Batman boarded the Bat Mech and took him out with an uppercut. Batman and Bat Mech came to Robin's rescue when Clayface attempted to eat him after a chase through the mountains. Batman fired four freeze missiles from the mech's rib cage but Clayface morphed his body so they missed. Things got worse when Bat Mech's right arm got stuck in Clayface's chest. Clayface decked Mech so hard, it lost its arm. Robin approached the battle. Bat Mech fired a freeze missile and Clayface caught it. Robin fired the BatATV's pulse cannons and triggered the missiles, freezing Clayface.

While Bane attacked a science base for a military grade blaster, the Bat Mech responded. Batman launched the gauntlet grapnel from the Mech's left arm and disarmed Bane. Bane took a punch but countered and threw the Mech. The impact made the Mech go offline. While Batman scrambled to reboot the systems, Arrow Mech came to his rescue. Back online, the Bat Mech picked up a tank left by the military and bashed Bane into submission. Robin was eager to ride the Bat Mech but Batman reminded him his studies came first. However, Batman left Robin alone to his studies in the landing bay where the Bat Mech was kept. Robin entered the Bat Mech, with no prior training, and wrecked the bay. The Bat Mech, in a black and gray paint scheme, responded to Killer Croc's assault on an aircraft carrier in the Gotham City Harbor. Croc pinned the Mech underwater then ripped one of its thrusters off. Batman activated the other one and returned to the surface. Croc threw the thruster at it but Mech caught it and attached it to its right arm. It activated and the enhanced speed of the punch knocked Croc out.

The Bat Mech and Batplane were utilized by Batman and Nightwing against giant Killer Croc and Bane when they attacked Arkham Asylum. The Mech launched itself into Bane but Croc tossed it on its back and launched a series of punches. Arrow Mech arrived and took Croc's attention. Just as Arrow Mech charged, Bat Mech grabbed Croc and the villain was decked.
