The Arctic Devices are an invention of Mr. Freeze. Angered with an encroachment of his Arctic territory, Mr. Freeze attached an Arctic Device to a larger machine that he placed an Isopod on. The Arctic Device emitted a blue ray and enlarged the Isopod into a larger monster. As it grew, the device attached to the Isopod's back. Freeze sent the Isopod to attack an oil rig but the roughnecks stationed there blasted it with their Wayne Enterprises Drilling Sledge. The Isopod was knocked into some debris. The Arctic Device was damaged and the Isopod returned to its normal size. Two weeks later, Freeze offered one of the Arctic Devices to help overcome the L06-D-05 Laser Cannon's design flaw of being unable to support valence co-sharing between the bonded particles. Dr. Langstrom checked the device and agreed it and the cannon would be an effective weapon against the mutated Clayface. Freeze was the only one who could make it work and helped with the set up.
