Victor Zsasz grew up in a life of ease in Gotham City but still became a sociopath. After being thrown out of the Iceberg Lounge for cheating, Zsasz took his first life and quickly became a serial killer. Indiscriminate with choosing his victims, Zsasz arranges his victims' corpses in a life-like pose before carving a mark into his body. He was eventually caught by Batman and sent to Arkham Asylum. While frantically searching the city of the Joker's dirty bomb, Batman intervened in a police standoff with Zsasz in Gotham North. Zsasz held an adult female at knife point and refused to give her up, citing "the zombie" was his "to liberate" as part of his "righteous work." Batman simply shot a grapnel into the wall behind Zsasz and yanked a brick out into the back of Zsasz' head. He was knocked out instantly and taken into police custody.
