Desmond Dumas is a roving reporter. One night, he stood across the street from the front gate of Gotham State Penitentiary and reported breaking news of representatives from the Gotham City Police Department and City Hall converging on the State Penitentiary to watch a revolutionary experiment in a top secret prison laboratory. He noted the proceedings would begin as soon as Batman and Robin arrived. He speculated they were no doubt delayed protecting the streets of their lovely city. Dumas was correct and the Dynamic Duo was finishing off Sandman and Clock King. Over six months later, Dumas stood on a roof and warned the citizens of Gotham to head for cover because Two-Face was dousing the entire city with Evil Essence. He was about the repeat his warning but Dumas was exposed to the gas, too, and transformed into a two-faced maniac. He coughed then laughed, threw his microphone away and and ran off. Like the other infected, Dumas was cured by Batman's Bat-Evil-Essence-Antidote-Bomb.
