Harriet Cooper is Dick Grayson's maternal aunt and lives with him at Wayne Manor. She long suspected Bruce Wayne and Grayson were secretly Batman and Robin. Rather than admit it, they would come up with a strange cover story like night fishing as a sure fire way to relax from the pressures of being a millionaire playboy and his teenage ward. While Batman and Robin were conferring with Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara about the sudden disappearance of the Joker, Penguin, and Riddler, Cooper peeked into Wayne's study. Despite standing rules, she went inside and noticed the red phone and his bust of William Shakespeare. Just as she was about to touch the bust, Wayne grabbed her arm and informed her the oil from her fingers would ruin the finish. Cooper feigned being turned around and left the study. In a surprise turn, Wayne fired Alfred Pennyworth for failing his duty of keeping her away from the study.

During a broadcast of Gotham Palace, Cooper teased them for being home so early from night fishing. Wayne implored her to say what was wrong with that and brought her to tears. Grayson had enough and declared he was a completely different person. Wayne kicked him out of the manor next instead of her. After the Joker, Penguin, and Riddler were apprehended, Wayne and Grayson threw Cooper a surprise birthday party to cover for their secret. She admitted to feeling insecure but now felt like a valued part of the family. She permitted them to stop using the night fishing ruse. Pennyworth noticed the Bat-Signal in the sky. Wayne and Grayson excused themself from the party just as it was beginning to go skeet shooting. Naturally, Cooper was perplexed.

Six months after Two-Face's initial capture, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson could not attend the annual millionaires' soiree ending in a midnight tour of Gotham City because of a conflict with one of their fishing trips. In their place, Harriet Cooper and Alfred Pennyworth would attend. Cooper was very excited to have the chance to rub elbows with Gotham's upper crust. Cooper joked they were lucky a fishing trip came up and elbowed Pennyworth to his dismay. She didn't want to be late so she grabbed one of his arms and they ran off. However, the tour was a target of King Tut. One of his Tutlings rudely demanded Cooper's jewelry. She was shocked and fainted. Pennyworth caught her and admonished the Tutling. Luckily, Batman and Robin arrived to battle the criminals. Batman activated the Bat-Net on his Batmobile and told Pennyworth to evacuate the citizens off the bus. Pennyworth went last and jumped off with Cooper in his arms.

After King Tut's hapless alter-ego Professor McElroy was sentenced to 15 years with the possibility of parole for good behavior, Wayne had his friend and assistant to the assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent over for drinks. Oblivious of Dick Grayson's distrust of Dent, formerly Two-Face and supposedly rehabilitated, Cooper was smitten to be in the presence of two handsome bachelors who were still best friends after all these years. She commented it was enough to give a girl the vapors. After Pennyworth alerted Wayne of the Bat-phone on the sly, he excused himself and Grayson for their weekly badminton lesson. Dent promised he would be in touch about his favorite charity for the Society for Underprivileged Fraternal Twins. Cooper took Pennyworth's tray and offered Pigs in a blanket to Dent.

Months after Two-Face's next defeat, Dent's charity bachelor auction was held on the grounds of Wayne Manor. Cooper wondered if Dent would be auctioning himself. She elbowed Pennyworth and joked she might need to borrow some money. He was aghast. She was all a tingle and turned to Bruce Wayne but he was gone. Everyone was shocked to discover the first bachelor up for auction was Batman and the first bidder was Catwoman.
