During the space race, there was a secret venture between the governments of the United States of America and Belgravia. A space station was set up in space but the two countries couldn't figure out a way to work together and it was abandoned. As part of a scheme to use a brainwashed Batman as a distraction, the Joker, Penguin, and Riddler secretly cloned themselves with the Replica Ray. The clones and an unaware Catwoman stowed away on a Belgravian rocket bound for the space station. Just as the cosmonauts prepared to dock, the villains made their presence known. Penguin used his umbrella to gas them. Batman and Robin soon realized they were in space and set off for the station in the Batrocket. The clones attempted to kill Catwoman by venting her out of Airlock 1 but Batman grabbed her just in time. The clones announced their plan was to use the Replica Ray on Earth and create two more copies of the planet so they would each have a Gotham City to rule. They were shocked to hear Batman admit he was thinking about throwing them out the airlock.
Robin reiterated they were honor-bound to follow the tenets of the law as duly deputized citizens of Gotham City but Batman pointed out they were outside of the jurisdiction of the Gotham Police Department and could play by his own rules. Penguin turned on the anti-gravity and the battle took to zero g. Batman was able to turn it off with a well-placed Batarang. To their horror, Batman put on a brass knuckle and beat them into submission. Catwoman managed to sneak off and left the space station in an escape pod.
