The Acme Atomic Energy Laboratory is a think tank in Gotham City headed by Professor Nichols. The week after the opening of a new wing dedicated to the science of total lunar eclipses, Nichols demonstrated his Replica Ray invention to some colleagues. The Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, and Riddler arrived with their henchmen to steal the ray. Batman and Robin figured out the laboratory was being targeted from a clue left behind at Gotham Palace. Despite the urgency of the situation, Batman restrained Robin from jaywalking. They correctly used the crosswalk to the laboratory. Just as Joker exposed the scientists to his Laughing Gas, Batman and Robin arrived to do battle. Batman was hit in the head by the Penguin while he was distracted by Catwoman, giving the villains the window they needed to escape with the Replica Ray.
