Whirly-Bats are portable one-man mini-helicopters developed by Batman and Robin to improve patrol and chase down criminals in Gotham City. Two Whirly-Bats are always kept in the trunk of the Batmobile. Once the Joker, Riddler, and Penguin's true plans were uncovered, Batman, Robin, and Catwoman confronted them at a trio of museums they just robbed. The villains took off on Penguin's giant umbrella but Batman, Robin, and Catwoman quickly followed on two Whirly-Bats. Batman and Robin carefully threw two exploding Batarangs from their seats and crippled the Pengyblimp's booster jets before the villains could get away. They caught up and boarded the blimp.
