After Batman and Robin confronted Bookworm in the Gotham City Library's Irreplaceable Rare Books Vault, his surrender was demanded. Bookworm was amused Batman thought he came without protection. The Worms, his four henchmen, came into the vault behind them and lined up. Batman told them wait and asked if they were forgetting something. Bookworm told them to give their glasses to Lydia. They each deposited their glasses in her purse. The fight resumed. A Worm grabbed a rare book to use as a weapon but Batman stopped him, placed the book back in the case, and decked him. The Worms were knocked out and piled on top of Bookworm. Chief O'Hara and the police entered the vault and rounded up Bookworm and his gang.
