S.T.A.R. Labs, short for The Scientific and Technological Advanced Research Laboratories, is a private research and development firm dedicated to working at the forefront of science and technology. In modern times, S.T.A.R. Labs maintains facilities across the United States of America. The Taos branch houses the Erdel Initiative, a program dedicated to Zeta-Beam research and maintaining the Justice League's Zeta-Tube technology.
On August 3rd, half of the Justice League defeated and disassembled Amazo. S.T.A.R. Labs offered assistance in analyzing the android. It was decided that its parts would be sent to the Boston and Manhattan branches of S.T.A.R. and that four decoy trucks would also be sent to distract Professor Ivo, Amazo's creator, or anyone else who was interested in stealing the parts. However, not to soon from departing, the trucks carrying the parts were attacked by MONQI's, another of Ivo's creations. In the end, Amazo's parts were delivered to S.T.A.R. after the android was defeated again.
On August 8th, 21:57 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), Professor Ojo landed in Philadelphia. He soon unleased the Utility Fog on the city's S.T.A.R. branch. The building was decimated and the intelligence stolen was sent to the Sensei, who then presented it to the Light. The surviving remains of the echinoderm from Atlantis ended up at S.T.A.R. Labs Gotham for further research. On November 5th, 22:07 EDT, Sportsmaster, sans costume, incited a riot to distract the Gotham City Police Department stationed outside the branch while Riddler infiltrated it as an employee. He easily stole the echinoderm and fled the scene with Sportsmaster.
On December 1st, 10:10 Mountain Standard Time (MST), Nightwing, Wonder Girl, Sphere, and Blue Beetle visited S.T.A.R. Labs in Taos to use the Zeta Tube to teleport to Gotham City. Before they could leave, Blue Beetle was scanned and assigned a designation. On January 6th, 09:58 MST, Team Year Six, Zeta Squad and Adam Strange teleported from Rann to the Erdel Initiative Zeta Lab in the S.T.A.R. Labs Taos branch. While Strange presented completed specifications for a Zeta Shield, Miss Martian then revealed the intelligence she gathered about the Justice League's missing 16 hours. Captain Atom then assigned Miss Martian and Superboy to the Hall of Justice while the others present resumed the search for more Kroloteans. Several weeks later, S.T.A.R. Labs launched relay satellites into an altitude above the Watchtower and activated the Zeta Shield.
On April 1st, Black Canary used an office at the Taos branch to interview those who were liberated from a Reach Ship by the Team. At 17:23 Mountain Daylight Time (MDT), Black Canary finished speaking with Tye Longshadow and called in Virgil Hawkins. On April 2nd, a meeting was held between Captain Atom, Black Canary, Nightwing, and two S.T.A.R. scientists about the Reach and the implications of their secret Metagene research. On April 9th, 00:20 MDT, members of the Team and Adam Strange were in attendance while Miss Martian verified Green Beetle's story through a mind link. On May 13th, after 19:30 MDT, the four teenagers attempted to escape from S.T.A.R. and succeeded thanks to a power outage staged by Lex Luthor. Red Volcano was then sent to attack the facility in search of the head of Amazo. Blue Beetle flew to S.T.A.R. and engaged Red Volcano. Their battle and Blue Beetle's reckless use of his sound cannons decimated S.T.A.R. Labs. On May 23rd, 20:30 MDT, Green Beetle met with Nightwing, Captain Atom, and Adam Strange at S.T.A.R. Labs Taos to inform them about Mongul and the Warworld.
On September 25, 22:56 EDT, Team Year Eight, Cheshire, Shade, Mist, and Livewire infiltrated S.T.A.R. Labs Detroit. They sought to steal a large Reach device but Shade had problems moving something so big. Casey Klebba, a security guard, managed to shoot Cheshire through her right shoulder. The device was recovered and returned to S.T.A.R. Labs. On October 12, 07:55 EDT, Dr. Silas Stone got a call from his son, Victor Stone, asking to be at this football game that evening. Stone promised he would be there then ended the call to have a video chat with Steel. Stone agreed to study a recovered Father Box but brushed off Steel's warning it was pure evil. Later that night, Stone was given the Father Box by Green Lantern Hal Jordan. On October 15, 07:!6 EDT, Victor Stone stormed in to confront Dr. Stone. Dr. Stone bluntly told him there were things in the world bigger than him and refused to keep talking if he kept shouting. Just as Victor Stone was going to leave, the electrical cord attached to the Reach device disconnected and set off an explosion.
The staff found Victor Stone morally wounded and mutilated. Allen Phaedon did not think he would survive a trip to the hospital. Dr. Stone got the Father Box and asked it to heal his son. Sarah Charles was not keen on it but Stone placed the Father Box on Victor Stone. The Father Box collected debris and encased Stone. After some time, Stone's vitals were restored. He soon emerged with his injured body replaced with cybernetic material and got even angrier. Violet Harper was drawn to Stone and boomed from Happy Harbor to Detroit. Under the Father Box's influence, Stone attacked her but she managed to cleanse him. He felt better and decided to leave with her. On January 02, 06:18 MST, Aquaman took the S.T.A.R. Labs Taos' Zeta-Tube to Poseidonis with a trafficked meta-human girl who could only survive underwater.
On November 09, Team Year Ten, Queen Perdita Vladek visited the Star City facility as part of her assessment after the S.T.A.R. Labs' board of directors showed interest in opening a branch in Vlatavastok. In reality, the true purpose of the visit was for Vladek to transfer possession of Kryptonite discovered in a Krastmala mine to Roquette. They stepped in and met with Dr. Serling Roquette. They both agreed to call each other by their first names and shook hands. Roquette introduced Vladek to her "colleagues" Dinah Lance and Oliver Queen then they complimented each other's purses, both from Forever Sixteen. The tour was disrupted by several armored individuals crashing in through the ceiling. Vladek's private security detail responded. Harlan Matthews transformed into Clayface and punched 05. Roy Harper ripped a sleeve off and blasted another with his cybernetic arm's laser beam. Dinah Lance used her Canary Cry on another. Oliver Queen gave Jim Harper the Maneuver Seven cue and was tossed up in the air. He fired an exploding trick arrow into another but was tackled by 10. 10 then fired a miniature dart into Queen's neck from their gauntlet.
Queen collapsed as did Dr. Roquette, Vladek's bodyguard Denny, and Lance who were also hit with darts. Will Harper ordered Clayface to protect those still conscious. However, the squad fired their sonic pulse and temporarily discorporated Clayface then rammed the three Harpers into a wall while another grabbed Queen Perdita Vladek. The squad flew off with her.
