Wayne Enterprises grew from humble beginnings. Founded by the Wayne family in the 17th century as Wayne Corp., a merchant house. In the modern age, Dr. Thomas Wayne served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors until his untimely murder.

Bruce Wayne, the son of Dr. Thomas Wayne, suddenly reappeared after years of travel and took over Wayne Enterprises. Long-time friend of the Wayne family, Lucius Fox was made joint CEO. Together, they diversified the company into computer science and industrial research. It grew into a multinational conglomerate worth billions. The company eventually branched off into every possible industry such as Technology, Biomedical, Medical, Cosmetics, Motors, Aerospace, Applied Science, Shipping, and Electronics. The division dedicated to technologies is WayneTech. Separate from Wayne Enterprises is the Wayne Foundation charity. Bruce Wayne also secretly constructed various secret lairs and caches in division headquarters to aid his alter-ego Batman. In Wayne's Metropolis office, a bust on his desk conceals a button that activates a sealed drawer containing a spare Batman costume.

On August 8th, a WayneTech facility in Philadelphia was targeted by Professor Ojo on behalf of the League of Shadows. He unleashed the Utility Fog to steal the facility's raw data. Among all its assets, Robin appeared concerned its systems software could hack something of importance. He ran into the building and issued WayneTech Override "R.G. 4" to bypass security protocol and stop the Fog. Robin arrived at a cafeteria and linked his computer to the register. Luckily, it was connected to the mainframe and he uploaded a virus designed to render the Fog inert. On September 12th, Green Arrow, Artemis, Flash, Kid Flash, Batman, and Robin arrived by a hidden League Zeta-Tube in a sub-basement of a Wayne Industries-owned hotel in Minneapolis.
