Rann is a distant planet light years away from Earth. Its capital is named Ranagar. The Rannian Science Command, the leading authority, is xenophobic in general. The Science Patrol, as a result, often conducts routine and random identification checks on citizens. On Rann, Kroloteans bribed a member of the Science Command to allow a Krolotean ship to secretly land in the jungle. A scientist named Sardath soon discovered some of his technology was stolen and traced 14 signals to Earth. While tracing the signal, he accidentally teleported Adam Strange from Earth to Rann. After several weeks, Strange and Sardath succeeded in basic communication and continued Sardath's search. When the Light took remote control of the Justice League with Starrotech, six members were apparently sent to Rimbor. A planetary watch was issued for them and any member of the Justice League. Sardath informed Strange of this alert before he returned to Earth.
Over five years after the Light's subversion, on January 4th, 22:16 UTC, Strange brought Superboy, Miss Martian, and Beast Boy to Rann to search for the outgoing signal. They were introduced to Sardath and his daughter Alanna. Alanna volunteered to guide the squad out of Ranagar into the jungle, where things that look beautiful are often deadly such as Blue Sand Bog. The squad discovered the Krolotean base in the jungle and destroyed its Zeta Platforms. When the Kroloteans had enough, they flew the base and departed Rann, stranding several of their comrades including a Captain.
