Founded in 1911, Pearl Harbor is the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet and a shallow lagoon harbor located in the island of O'ahu in the state of Hawai'i. It is most known for being attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy on December 7, 1941 and leading to the United States' involvement in World War II. On January 29, 1964, Pearl Harbor was formally recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
