The New York World's Fair was the brainchild of retired policemen from New York City. The international exposition was intended to help lift the city and country out of the Great Depression. The World's Fair opened on April 30, 1939 in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and became the second largest American world's fair. It was the first to have a theme about the future. The World's Fair featured the slogan, "Dawn of a New Day" and visitors got a glimpse of "the world of tomorrow."
Sometime in 1945, the site of the 1939 World's Fair was visited by the Flash and Firebrand. While demonstrating her pyrokinetic powers to a crowd, Firebrand took a blast from the Axis villain, Dragon King.
