As a failsafe, Kroloteans who infiltrated Earth have standing orders that in case of discovery they evacuate to Malina Island. On the island is a base hidden in a volcano. On January 6th, 17:10 Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST), the final shipment of Kroloteans were delivered to Malina Island by a second Black Manta. The Kroloteans were close to completing a new ship to depart the planet. Several members of the Team and the Justice League participated in a joint reconnaissance mission to Malina Island. They confronted the second Manta, who turned out to be Kaldur'ahm, but his partner planted an alien bomb. Kaldur'ahm and his men fled the island. The Team and Justice League barely escaped the bomb's blast radius while Superman took the brunt of the blast. Malina Island was completely destroyed.
