El Paso is a city located in west Texas bordering Mexico and lies near the Rio Grande. Jaime Reyes currently lives with his family in El Paso. The second Blue Beetle Ted Kord operated out of El Paso until his untimely death in July Team Year Five. After Reyes found Kord's Scarab in the parking lot of Kord Industries, Reyes became a the third Blue Beetle and a local hero. On December 1st, 07:50 Mountain Standard Time (MST), Team Year Five, Nightwing, Wonder Girl, and Sphere arrived in El Paso to recruit the new Blue Beetle. At 08:19 MST, they approached Jaime Reyes as he rushed into Rio Grande High School. On February 18th, 23:56 MST, Team Year Six, Reyes received a disturbing phone call from his friend, Tye Longshadow. After learning Longshadow did not purchase a ticket to Houston and was missing, Reyes searched for him at his parent's and grandfather's home but found no leads.
On March 23rd, 18:18 MDT, Impulse showed up at the front door of the Reyes family household. Jaime Reyes answered and left with Impulse as Blue Beetle. They played around in a secluded area but were attacked by Kaldur'ahm's team. On May 13th, 20:52 MDT, Jaime Reyes received a phone call from Nightwing. Reyes reluctantly accepted an order to track down the runaway teenagers in Taos. On May 27th, 00:06 MDT, Blue Beetle and Green Beetle arrived in front of the Reyes home. After Green Beetle flew away, Blue Beetle shifted to his civilian guise. On June 13th, 20:40 MDT, Batgirl and Impulse engaged Blue Beetle on an empty street. They were merely decoys and Blue Beetle was captured by Rocket and Zatanna.
