Athens is the capital of Greece and reputed as one of the world's oldest cities. On December 25th, 20:02 Eastern European Time (EET), Team Year Two, Red Arrow had another brief battle with Cheshire while tracking Lex Luthor's operations. On February 17th, Team Year Five, the Museum of Natural History in Athens opened an exhibit to showcase the artifacts recovered by Dr. Sandsmark's dig. Among these artifacts on display in the Antiquities wing on the top floor was a fragment of the Tiamat statue. On February 17th, 08:41 EET, Alpha Squad, led by Artemis, arrived at the museum amid a hostage crisis instigated by Sportsmaster. Aquagirl contacted the museum director and relayed the location of the artifacts to the squad. Red Tornado also observed seismographs indicated heavy seismic activity, which was being generated by the statue fragment, from inside the museum. While the squad raced Sportsmaster to the Antiquities wing, Red Tornado placed a request for a Justice League member to help stabilize the area. Alpha Squad defeated Sportsmaster but he fled the museum via helicopter with the fragment. With the museum on the verge of collapse, the squad helped Green Lantern John Stewart escort trapped hostages to safety outside.
