As part of a Santa Priscan government plot to create an army of supersoldiers, a new drug was created. Named Venom, the liquified strength-enhancing drug is acutally an illegal neo-steroid, was tested on several prisoners but failed to yield results. The drug finally worked on a man named Bane and endowed him with enhanced strength. Bane used his power to kill everyone and escape. The drug is highly addictive and requires its user to take a dosage every 12 hours.
Bane oversaw production of Venom in a factory on Santa Prisca. Eventually, the Light formed plans that involved the drug. They perfected a formula for Kobra Venom, a combination of Venom and the Blockbuster formula from Cadmus. Kobra was recruited to assume control of the Venom factory and mass produce a large cache of Kobra Venom. The new drug has three times the potency of Venom and the effect is permanent. The Venom factory was destroyed and it is unknown if others are active.
