Shields are a special shield-shaped compound developed specifically for Superboy. When placed on an arm, they can supress the human DNA sequences used to bridge gaps in Superboy's Kryptonian DNA for an hour. The Shields could grant Superboy access to the full powers of a Kryptonian. When an hour passed, the Shield expires and turns a black hue. On December 1st, Superboy utilized a Shield after Deadshot attacked the Harjavti family. Enraged, he beat Deadshot unconscious until Superman stopped him. In late December, Superboy utilized several Shields during an unofficial mission. He also used the Shield to quickly recover from his encounter with Parasite. On December 30th, Superboy used his last Shield to combat Mammoth and nearly got Artemis killed in a landslide.
