The Proprietary Collars are devices employed by local, federal, and global law enforcement such as Belle Reve Penitentiary and Interpol. Fitting around the neck, each collar is custom designed to inhibit a supervillain's specific meta abilities and discipline them. Activated by remotes carried by guards, the first electrical shock is a warning. The second renders the wearer unconscious. All collars can be turned on and off at once through a master control room. Disguised as Tuppence Terror, Miss Martian only had super strength inhibited and was able to both communicate with Superboy through telepathy and induce mind control on Professor Ojo.

The Brain came into possession of these collars and used them to control wildlife he mutated with Kobra Venom in Northern India. Aqualad first noticed these collars and advised Captain Marvel and the Team to disable them. Once removed, the animals reverted to normal and stopped attacking. The Brain later restrained Captain Marvel with a collar set to prohibit movement from the neck down but still allow the power of speech. After the Team rescued Marvel and the Brain fled his compound with Monsieur Mallah, they freed all the animals of their collars. The Brain's enhanced gorillas later used collars to neutralize the Team on September 26th. In Team Year Six, the collars were still utilized by assets and operatives of the Light. On April 9th, Miss Martian was collared and allowed to only use her telepathy to fix Kaldur'ahm's mind. If she failed, an explosive charge would go off and decapitate her. Decades into the future, a Proprietary Collar was still in use by Nathaniel Tryon to neutralize his powers before Impulse changed the past.

Miss Martian was captured by Deathstroke and Tigress. She was outfitted with a Proprietary Collar modified with an explosive. If she failed to cure Kaldur'ahm, Deathstroke would detonate the explosive. Tigress managed to disable the collar from the Manta Sub's communications room.
