The Manta Sub is Black Manta's primary mode of transportation. It is a submarine shaped in the form of a giant manta ray. On August 27th, Team Year Zero, it served as phase four of the plan to extract a frozen giant echinoderm. It would appear above the Science Center and melt a hole in the dome then tow the object away. Black Manta failed to extract it and escaped aboard the submarine. On February 17th, Team Year Five, the Manta Sub was stationed under Atabey's Shrine on Santa Prisca.
On January 7th, Team Year Six, the Manta Sub was stationed somewhere in the North Pacific. On March 20th, 00:00 EDT, the Manta Flyer reunited with the Manta Sub in the Atlantic Ocean. As of April 9th, the Manta Sub was still somewhere in the Atlantic. Miss Martian was brought against her will to the Manta Sub to repair Kaldur'ahm's mind. After six hours, she made some progress thanks to Artemis. On May 27th, 01:00 EDT, Cheshire and Sportsmaster infiltrated the Manta Sub and made their moves on Black Manta and Kaldur'ahm. Miss Martian, Kaldur'ahm, and Artemis revealed the truth to them. They played along and made their escape. As a favor, Sportsmaster blew up the communications room to cover up Tigress' part in helping Miss Martian escape her Proprietary Collar. On May 28th, 17:00 EDT, the Manta Sub broadcasted from the Caribbean Sea.
