On November 11th, five Flying Ice Fortresses were dispatched across the continental United States of America and covered states in snow. The extreme atmospheric conditions also worked to cause the Justice League's Zeta Tube Network to go offline at 16:05 Eastern Standard Time (EST). The Team and Justice League split off into groups for a joint mission to destroy the fortresses. Batman, Robin, Flash, Aquaman, and Aqualad destroyed the first fortress. Superboy, Super-Cycle, Wolf, Black Canary, and Red Tornado destroyed the second. Miss Martian, aboard the Bio Ship, Zatanna, Artemis, Green Arrow, and Martian Manhunter destroyed the third.
At around 17:08 Pacific Standard Time (PST), Captain Marvel and Dr. Fate destroyed the fourth. Sometime later, the last fortress was destroyed by Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Captain Atom, and Wonder Woman and was reported on by Iris West-Allen. Batman and Flash later inquired about the status of Icicle Senior, Icicle Junior, Killer Frost, Mr. Freeze, and Captain Cold at Belle Reve Penitentiary, as they were the most likely villains to have created the fortresses. It appears they were implemented by Vandal Savage to aid Count Vertigo in what would be a failed attempt to manipulate the death of Queen Perdita.
