Leonard Snart wanted to strike out as a criminal in Central City and researched ways to stop the Flash, the city's protector. In one article, it was theorized that the energy emissions of a cyclotron would interfere with the Flash's powers. Snart broke into the cyclotron lab and used the device to charge up his experimental gun. Snart was surprised by a security guard and used the gun to scare the guard away but discovered the gun could freeze someone in their tracks. As Captain Cold, his primary weapon is the Cold Gun. The Flash and Kid Flash appear to easily disarm him of the two guns though. On March 21, Team Year Six, Cold used a rifle variation in Dakota City to freeze an armored car and the nearby area, where Rocket's wedding shower happened to be taking place.
