Cassandra Sandsmark is the daughter of archaeologist Dr. Helena Sandsmark and the Greek god Zeus. She was often left on her own when Dr. Sandsmark went on archaeological expeditions. At some point, Sandsmark discovered she had super powers. She wanted to be a hero but didn't know how. Sandsmark became Wonder Girl, protege of Wonder Woman, and was recruited to the Team in October Team Year Five. She was trained by Wonder Woman, Nightwing, and others. A couple months later, on December 1st, Team Year Five, Wonder Girl was thrilled to be chosen by Nightwing to accompany him and Sphere on an Alpha Squad mission. They flew to El Paso to recruit the new Blue Beetle to the Team. Nightwing felt Wonder Girl, the newest member of the Team, was best suited to recruit the next potential member. It didn't hurt that she stood a better chance of not triggering a fight or flight incident. Just as Jaime Reyes arrived at Rio Grande High School, Wonder Girl approached him as Nightwing moved in. On January 1st, Team Year Six, she and Batgirl were assigned to Beta Squad and engaged Lobo in the United Nations Headquarters. Eventually, Lobo got the upperhand on her.
On January 4th, Wonder Girl and Nightwing raided a Krolotean base in Philadelphia. On January 6th, Wonder Girl was assigned to Delta Squad for the Malina Island mission. After letting herself become distracted by Wonder Woman's moves, Wonder Girl recovered and began to help taking out the Mechs. On January 26th, Wonder Girl was present to say goodbye to Wonder Woman as the League left for Rimbor. Wonder Girl wished she could go but Wonder Woman believed her mother wouldn't approve. On February 19th, Wonder Girl was assigned to an all-female Alpha Squad. Wonder Girl's lack of stealth garnered her the role of look out. She soon sighted Psimon, Devastation, Icicle Junior, Mammoth, and Shimmer. Wonder Girl infiltrated a hangar and warned Miss Martian. However, while seeking out Bumblebee, she was found out by Devastation. After the squad regrouped, Wonder Girl ripped off the secret hangar doors from a secret runway and cleared Devastation and Mammoth from a plane piloted by Batgirl.
On March 30th, Wonder Girl tried to rally the liberated teenagers onto the Bio-Ship but an agent of the Reach intervened. Wonder Girl dubbed him Black Beetle and warned him to back down. However, Black Beetle made short work of the Team and slammed Wonder Girl into a wall several times and rendered her unconscious. On May 26th, Wonder Girl was assigned to Alpha Squad with Superboy, Wolf, and Arsenal and tasked with fighting Mongul. Once Mongul was rendered unconscious, Wonder Girl tied him up with her lasso. On June 14th, Wonder Girl joined Beast Boy and Robin in helping with the operation to free Blue Beetle from Reach control and fought against Green Beetle. On June 19th, Wonder Girl took part in the Santa Prisca mission. She took the place of a League of Shadows soldier along with Robin and Impulse. On June 20th, Wonder Girl was assigned to Tau Squad with Robin to disable a Magnetic Field Disrupter. In the face of the impending destruction of Earth brought on by the Reach, Wonder Girl summoned up the courage to kiss Robin. After the crisis was averted, they started dating. Sandsmark attended Wally West's funeral. Aqualad assigned her to Gamma Squad, tasked with following up on Batgirl's lead on Vandal Savage's location.
On July 4th, Team Year Eight, a Team debriefing took place at the same time as a Justice League meeting on the Watchtower. Wonder Girl and Robin spoke but he abruptly left with Batman and Green Arrow's group, who left the League in protest over the increasing red tape passed by the United Nations. On August 4th, 12:33 EDT, Cassie Sandsmark called up Tim Drake to try and reason with him again but she had to hang up and respond to a mission along with Static. A Team briefing was held at Snapper Carr's home in Happy Harbor. The squad boomed to New Genesis to investigate an incident between Orion and the Bugs. Wonder Girl rebuffed the notion that Robin's detective skills would come in handy and noted he was clueless when it came to relationships. The Team soon met a Bug leader named Mantis and convinced him to cooperate. A new trade was arranged but Miss Martian suddenly took Orion away and a fight broke wout between the Team and Orion's meta-human slaves, Blister and Giant. Wonder Girl and Static teamed up to defeat Giant but the Bugs turned on the Team. One of their own, Forager, came to the Team's aid.
On November 22nd, Team Year Eight, Cassie Sandsmark went to Gotham City in an attempt to patch up her relationship with Tim Drake. After the Meta-Human Youth Center in Taos was attacked by Onslaught, Beast Boy formed a public team of young super-heroes and recruited Wonder Girl. She accepted the invitation and made it known on December 4th, 19:09 EST, when Beast Boy pitched the team to Aquaman and the Team. A couple minutes later, at 17:48 PST, she was present at Beast Boy's tour of the Outsiders' headquarters, the Hub, at the Premiere Building in Hollywood. On December 7th, 19:37 PST, the Outsiders went to Brooklyn, Maine in response to an alleged Reach attack. They encountered three War Bugs. Wonder Girl nabbed one with her lasso then Blue Beetle deactivated it. He took out another then Wonder Girl brought it down. Mayor Tompkins had the Outsiders arrested for violating the town's anti-vigilante laws but the appearance of a mothership prompted them to break free. The Outsiders successfully crashed the mothership without causing any collateral damage.
On December 21st, Wonder Girl joined the other Outsiders at the Happy Harbor Zeta-Tube. They teleported to Santiago de Cuba at 10:13 CST to investigate a suspected meta-trafficking ring. They discovered Klarion inside a building and were forced to fight a Flesh Monster he created out of several meta-activated teenagers. Wonder Girl and Static were tasked with the monster while Beast Boy took on Klarion. Zatanna, hidden with glamour, came to their aid despite the Justice League's ongoing issues. Klarion added Wonder Girl into the Flesh Monster but Zatanna eventually liberated everyone then teleported Klarion and herself to the Tower of Fate. The Outsiders left Cuba with the non-Cuban teenagers who wanted to leave. They were taken to the Meta-Human Youth Center in Taos. On December 31st, the Outsiders and the Team cooperated on a joint mission at a United Nations climate summit in Bwunda which turned out to be a set up so Lex Luthor could make a public show of the need for oversight of the Justice League.
The Outsiders went to Taos. Wonder Girl personally escorted the liberated Lia Briggs into the Youth Center. On January 1st, Team Year Nine, Cassie Sandsmark arrived at the Hub at 14:24 PST for training. However, the Hub was paid an unexpected visit from Dr. Sandsmark, Eduardo Dorado Senior, and Jay Garrick. They aired their concerns with their respective children being on a public team. Dr. Sandsmark reiterated she allowed her daughter to join the Team with reluctance but thought a public team was even riskier. After both sides talked it out, it was agreed the good deeds the Outsiders were accomplishing far outweighed the risks. Cassie Sandsmark later posted a photo with Dr. Sandsmark, Eduardo Dorado Junior, and Eduardo Dorado Senior on her 1K Wordsworth account, @WonderGirlOutsiders. On January 25th, Wonder Girl was part of an Outsiders mission to search Goode World Studios with Victor Stone. However, they were boomed into an X-Pit until Stone defeated Overlord. Gretchen Goode was defeated and then tied up by Wonder Girl but she vanished after Stone and Blue Beetle wrecked a giant Apokoliptian machine in the warehouse.
On January 26th, 06:54 PST, the Outsiders and the Team celebrated their victory and congratulated Victor Stone and Violet Harper. The Outsiders inducted Stone as a new member and he took on the codename Cyborg. On February 16th, Wonder Girl was assigned to Gamma Squad for the joint Team-Outsiders mission in Markovia. Gamma stopped Dr. Simon Ecks from executing Gregor Markov loyalists. On February 24th, 19:00 EST, Wonder Girl attended the meeting on the Watchtower. At some point after, she and Robin broke up. Wonder Girl later changed her suit. On February 24th, Team Year Ten, Wonder Girl was part of the Outsiders mission and helped stop the Kobra Cult from sending out a brainwashing signal. During the battle, Wonder Girl took down at least one helicopter. Wonder Girl temporarily took over as leader after Beast Boy left for Mars with Superboy and Miss Martian. On April 19th, 12:17 PDT, Wonder Girl and Windfall notified Beast Boy about the mission to deal with Hurricane Amy. Wonder Girl speculated Weather Wizard was behind it. Beast Boy declined his participation, citing he was "Javelin-lagged" from the trip back to Earth.
On May 14th, 00:23 PDT, Wonder Girl activated the Troub-alert in response to Headmaster. A squad of Outsiders left without Beast Boy. They later returned to find him still asleep on the living room couch. Wonder Girl and El Dorado shared look of concern after he stormed off. On May 14th, Wonder Woman, Troia, and Wonder Girl helped rescue civilians from reversed gravity while Wizard tried to neutralize the Pillar of Fire left by Child. On June 2nd, 10:00 PDT, Cassie Sandsmark participated in an invervention for Garfield Logan. She didn't appreciate him dismissing Jaime Reyes and Virgil Hawkins, told him she was okay with continuing to lead the Outsiders but told him she needed her friend and mentor back. He coldly stated he had to figure out how to be a leader by himself so she would be okay. On September 14th, Wonder Girl was one of the heroes who showed up at Planet Circle in Metropolis but the House of Zod incident was already over. She and everyone else was naturally shocked Superboy was alive.
On September 16th, Team Year Ten, Wonder Girl attended Conner Kent and M'gann M'orzz's wedding in Happy Harbor. On November 9th, 18:06 PST, Wonder Girl took part in a conference call with Tigress, Oracle, Black Lightning, and King Brion Markov. She prompted Markov once everyone was merged into the call. After the call ended, Garfield Logan was adamant that the Infinitors wouldn't be the ones rescuing Queen Perdita Vladek. Wonder Girl told him to chill and pointed out he wasn't cleared for active duty yet. He countered Dinah Lance was still in a coma and he wasn't going to be cleared anytime soon. He stated he was going after Vladek with or without the Outsiders. She put a hand on his shoulder and reaffirmed it would be "with" and promised that. She checked in on Raptor Squad in Paris who were monitoring Joe Henchy, an affiliate of Count Vertigo. At 20:57 PST, Queen Perdita informed Wonder Girl that King Brion rescued her and she was simply tired but promised to call again the next day. Wonder Girl asked if she saw Count Vertigo. She revealed she never laid eyes on him. King Brion vowed he would be brought to justice and assured Wonder Girl the queen was safe. She thanked him and the call ended.
Beast Boy was skeptical because she neglected to ask about Nielson, Roquette, Lance, and Queen. He asked if that made sense. Wonder Girl hailed Raptor Squad for a report. On November 11th, 12:06 PST, a conference call was held between Wonder Girl, Beast Boy, Nightwing, Oracle, Robin, and Cyborg to discuss the motive behind Queen Vladek's kidnapping: the Vlatavan National Mining Company in Krastmala discovered something, kept it secret, took the discovery directly to Queen Vladek, and she contacted Green Arrow and Black Canary seeking help with setting up transfer of it to Dr. Serling Roquette in S.T.A.R. Labs in Star City. Oracle summarized Count Vertigo's escape and Vladek's kidnapping were all a distraction to hide the true target. Wonder Girl asked what "it" was. Oracle admitted they still did not know but Ray Palmer and Karen Beecher were running tests on what little residue the Team recovered in Krastmala. Wonder Girl deduced the robotics factory was the likely location where Luthor was holding Vladek prisoner. Oracle confirmed that was their best guess.
On November 11th, 12:32 PST, Gorilla Squad prepared to depart the Hub on Super-Cycle to help with the joint mission to rescue Queen Perdita Vladek. Wonder Girl thanked Cyborg for his help and yelled at Stargirl and Beast Boy to hurry up. They flew through the Boom Tube opened by Cyborg directly to the robotics factory where more Lex-Bots were awaiting their anticipated arrival. Wonder Girl used her lasso to swing one into another. Terra told the rest of the squad to head inside and rescue Queen Perdita Vladek because time was of the essence. Superboy led the way and punched a hole into the factory. A squad from Onslaught was waiting for them: Devastation, Mammoth, and Shimmer. Wonder Girl commanded them to stand down and stated they just wanted Vladek. Devastation quipped she just wanted to crush her skull and wanted to see who would end up satisfied. Superboy pointed out they were motivated and she was outnumbered. Devastation introduced their latest recruit, Match. Wonder Girl tried to drop on her back and toss Devastation but she slammed her into the instead.
At 22:42 UTC+2, Devastation held Wonder Girl in a headlock and taunted her for failing to save Queen Perdita Vladek and for being powerless to act as Metallo had the weakened Superboy by the throat. While Mammoth was momentarily distracted by Shimmer's defeat, Beast Boy turned from a gorilla in to a Ma'alefa'ak then hurled him into Devastation. Wonder Girl got free and tied both up with her lasso.
