Livewire was on route to serve a sentence at Belle Reve Penitentiary but she was liberated by Sportmaster, injected with nanotech by Mad Hatter, and forced to follow Branchwater Security's commands. On September 25th, 22:56 EDT, Team Year Eight, a team consisting of Cheshire, Shade, Mist, and Livewire were assigned to steal a Reach device from S.T.A.R. Labs Detroit. Shade teleported Livewire and Mist inside from the roof. Livewire zapped Dr. Silas Stone unconscious and his face landed in his bowl. She declared two points. Shade became concerned the device was larger than he was led to believe. Livewire teased size doesn't matter. Stone came to and set off the alarm. Shade remarked the device was a lot to swallow. Livewire told him to stop handing her the stray lines. Cheshire intervened when security guard Casey Klebba arrived. She was shot in the shoulder. Shade teleported them away. On September 26th, 00:56 EDT, Cheshire's team fought Nightwing's covert team in a hangar.
Livewire blasted Black Lightning and recalled he quit the Justice League. She presumed it was because he knew he was obsolete. He dodged her blasts, slid, and knocked her over. She invited him to zap her because she could absorb electricity as well. He remarked she never had black lightning before. She was overwhelmed and fainted. After Nightwing's team left, Batman used Mad Hatter's control device to liberate Livewire and Mist from the nanotech. Since they were minors, it was decided they were salvageable. Livewire and Mist relocated to the Meta-Human Youth Center in Taos. On November 16th, 20:20 MST, Livewire attended the orientation. She was not pleased when Eduardo Dorado Senior introduced the Inhibitor Collar. On November 17th, 07:07 MST, Eduardo Dorado Junior presided over a session with Livewire, Mist, Wendy Jones, and Celia Windward. They debated the Youth Center's voluntary policy about Inhibitor Collars. Dorado Junior mentioned his friend Newt would want one if his powers ever came back. Livewire recalled he was the one that almost blew up Central City.
The four were then sent to a room to practice control of their meta-abilities while Dorado Senior stood in an observation room. Livewire wasn't into 'Remedial Meta-Powers 101' and thought she and Mist were more advanced at using their powers. She was amused Jones thought she and Mist had "hero names" already. Jones wanted to be called Windfall and made a whirlwind but Mist got caught up in it. Livewire got angry, called Jones an idiot, and zapped her. Livewire checked on Mist. Jones took offense to being called a meta-brat. Dorado Senior tried to calm the situation but Jones attacked Livewire. She lost control and started to asphyxiate everyone. Dorado Junior crawled to her, touched her shoe, and teleported them both outside. Jones sobbed as she apologized profusely. Junior told her it was all right but she declared she was a monster. She shut down mentally and put on a collar. At the next session, Livewire and Mist left in protest of her.
On November 22nd, Livewire and Mist had fun on the bumper cars at the Harvest Festival then had cotton candy. The festival was disrupted by Onslaught, who gassed everyone unconscious. Tommy Terror grabbed Livewire but he tripped on a frozen Holocaust and lost her. On December 7th, 20:52 MST, Dorado Junior paused a session to show everyone footage of the Outsiders on their maiden mission in Brooklyn, Maine. Livewire joined the Outsiders and moved into a room at the top of the Premiere Building. She was assigned the designation D-14. On April 19th, 12:17 PDT, Team Year Ten, Livewire took part in the Outsiders mission involving the growing threat of Hurricane Amy. On September 9th, 19:08 MDT, she attended a monthly group therapy session in Taos. On September 16th, she attended Conner Kent and M'gann M'orzz's wedding in Happy Harbor. On November 11th, after 22:33 UTC+2, Livewire was part of Mongoose Squad and boomed to Madinat Altharwati to provide back up for Terra and Super-Cycle outside a Lexcorp Robotics factory. Livewire blasted a Lex-Bot. At 22:42 UTC+2, she and Static blasted two Lex-Bots in unison.
