Bruce Wayne is the son of Dr. Thomas and Martha Wayne. He was born in 1978. Wayne was only eight years old when he witnessed his parents being murdered by a man named Joe Chill. In 1999, Wayne began fighting crime as Batman at age 21. The following year, Batman met Superman. In February 2003, Batman and six other heroes stopped an Appellaxian invasion of Earth. Later that month, the Justice League was founded and formally, Batman was its 2nd member. About two years after, Bruce Wayne opened his home to the recently orphaned nine year old Dick Grayson and mentored him so that Boss Zucco, who murdered Grayson's parents, would be brought to justice and would not turn out like him. When he is not operating as Batman, Wayne is CEO of Wayne Enterprises and maintains some involvement in the company's charitable arm, the Wayne Foundation. At some point, Batman struck up a romantic relationship with Talia Al Ghul.

On August 27th, 2009, Batman once again implored Talia Al Ghul to give up serving her father. When she wouldn't comply, Batman left her alone. Now active for nine years, the 32 year old Batman deduced the high profile status of the Justice League prevented its members from stopping more and more criminals. Batman was formally elected to serve as the Justice League's leader in Team Year Zero. On July 4th, at 12:00 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), Batman and Robin defeated Mr. Freeze in Gotham then met up with several allies at the Hall of Justice at 14:00 EDT. While organizing a debrief to discuss the coincidence of four ice villains attacking on the same day, Speedy aired his views and quit after gaining no ground. Then, Superman's report provided Batman with the context to instigate an investigation of Project Cadmus. However, the threat of Wotan, delayed that measure. Results aside, Batman was not pleased with the actions of Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash. They hacked Justice League systems, disobeyed direct orders, and endangered civilians. However, with their rebellion still lit, he helped found the Team, an undercover unit in the League, to take on covert missions. Like a general, Batman often issues orders and missions to the unit.

Intrigued by developments on Santa Prisca, Batman deployed the Team on their first mission; recon. After being apprised of the mission, Batman declared all members of the Team would receive written evaluations and congratulated them for adjusting their battle plan and choosing a leader. On August 7th, Batman and Green Arrow offered Artemis a position on the Team. On August 19th, Batman and Robin prevented Ra's Al Ghul from launching his latest doomsday weapon into space but learned after that Kent Nelson had passed on. They attended his funeral on August 21st. Batman and Green Arrow then approached Artemis with an odd request, to arrest her. On August 26th, Batman and Robin confronted Clayface in Gotham but were soundly defeated. Batman assigned the Team to track the creature. On August 27th, Batman arrived to find the Team defeated by Clayface. Batman rendered Clayface inert with a taser targeted at the frequency of his morphic resonance pattern. Upon returning to the Cave, Batman advised Aqualad to regain his focus or resign then also spent quality time with Dick Grayson, who was becoming increasingly frustrated with his role.

On September 11th, 21:48 EDT, Batman and Robin attempted to stop a group of kidnappers. In mid-September, Batman's suspicion with the four ice villains' attacks on July 4th were confirmed. The four were to be "reunited" at Belle Reve Penitentiary. He dispatched Miss Martian and Superboy to go undercover and investigate while Aqualad and Red Tornado stood by to provide any assistance if needed. On September 22nd, Batman arrived with other members of the Justice League to find the Cave invaded, the Team neutralized, and Red Tornado missing. Batman then learned from Aqualad about Sportsmaster's hint of a mole. Superboy overheard the conversation and revealed the secret to the rest of the Team. Despite the recent attack and revelation, Batman presented them with a new mission. After checking his sources and studying the patterns, Batman assigned the Team to investigate gorilla attacks in Northern India. After reading their reports, Batman then assigned them to investigate another possible operation in Bwunda.

On October 1st, 18:13 EDT, Batman arrived at the Cave. He informed the Team of his investigation on the Kobra Venom. However, his briefing was interrupted by the public debut of the Injustice League. Batman decided the Justice League would battle the League's Plant Creatures while the Team disabled its central control system. Batman felt the Team was ready to face a threat as dangerous as the members of the Injustice League. He, Zatara, and Captain Marvel arrived in Gotham City to battle Plant Creatures. The Justice League later arrived in Bayou Bartholomew. Batman disarmed then knocked out the Joker. He rated the Team's performance as satisfactory. On November 11th, Batman coordinated the first joint mission between the Justice League and the Team. Batman met up with Aquaman, Aqualad, Flash, and Robin to destroy a Flying Ice Fortress. On November 13th, Batman and Flash visited Belle Reve Penitentiary to investigate the five ice villains and their possible connection to the ice storms.

On November 22nd, 09:42 EST, Batman showed Dinah Lance startling footage of her kissing Superboy. It turned out to be Miss Martian. As Lance talked to Miss Martian about her reservations, Batman summoned the Team for a mission. He assigned them to investigate President Harjavti after his bizarre announcement of unifying Qurac and Bialya. Since Aqualad was out helping Aquaman, Batman made the next logical choice and designated Robin as the team leader for the mission. On December 30th, Batman congratulated the Team for helping prove Warden Strange ran Belle Reve as a front for criminal activity and had the villains' containment case brought to the Watchtower for further analysis. At 23:46 EST, Red Arrow planted a device on Batman. Compromised, he joined the rest of the League in the main hall and issued his personal override protocol. Vandal Savage gained entry into the Watchtower. On December 31st, 07:16 EST, the enthralled Batman informed the Team that Red Arrow was the mole all along then lied the League already took countermeasures against him and Savage down.

Aqualad wanted to track Red Arrow down but Batman stated it was a League matter and told Red Tornado to say with the Team then he zetaed back to the Watchtower. Zatanna told the others she detected a slight mystic vibe from Batman. Batman was part of a group sent by Savage to Rimbor to conduct a 16 hour rampage. They were then summoned back to the Watchtower. Superboy spun Robin around then launched him towards Batman. While Batman was stunned, Robin applied a Curotech to him. On January 1st Team Year One, Batman attended the debrief. Batman informed the others Guardian was searching Project Cadmus for the real Roy Harper. It was then reported most of the League's time under Savage's control had been accounted for except for six Leaguers being absent for 16 hours. Batman pondered what they did for 16 hours. In Team Year Three, Dick Grayson took on a new alter-ego, Nightwing, Barbara Gordon became Batgirl, and Jason Todd became the second Robin but died later that year. In Team Year Five, Tim Drake became the third Robin.

On February 16th, 21:31 EST, Team Year Five, Batman communicated with the Team from the Watchtower. He relayed Wonder Woman's request for help investigating the kidnapping of Dr. Sandsmark from her dig site near Olympia. After the Verhoyansk mission, the Team noted the presence of LexCorp tech. Batman shared League intelligence that Luthor was overseeing a mining operation on Santa Prisca. Since Aquaman was already on-scene investigating a sudden rise of toxic metals in the water and soil, Batman assigned the Team to make contact. With Aquaman missing in action and Black Manta Troopers present, Batman advised Alpha Squad to proceed with caution. After the Santa Prisca mission was completed, Batman asked the Team for a status report. Aquagirl informed everyone the statue fragments coveted by the Light were somehow tied to the myth surrounding Tiamat and Marduk. Going on Dr. Sandsmark's latest message, Batman believed Dr. Sandsmark would be moved through the Gotham Docks.

Following the Gotham mission, Batman congratulated the Team on rescuing Dr. Sandsmark and recovering all the statue fragments then asked Sandsmark if she seen or overheard anything else. Based on her descriptions, Zatanna deduced techno-sorcery was once again being used by the Light. Batman was unable to get a response from Aquagirl at the Metropolitan Museum of Art so he pulled up surveillance fotage from around the time Alpha Squad left for Gotham City. They watched as Klarion completed the statue and Aquagirl followed after him through a portal. As Klarion prepared to awaken Tiamat, Batman flagged disaster reports about a flood in Singapore and a tsunami warning in Japan. On February 18th, 09:16 UTC+2, just as Alpha Squad arrived in Bialya to find Aquagirl and the statue, Batman got in more disaster reports. He sent fellow Justice League members out to help quell the panic and start rescue efforts. Alpha fought their way through a heavily guarded desert canyon and entered the Esagila's Royal Gardens. Batman reported more disasters in South America, Taipei, and Antarctica. Time was running out. Despite all odds, Beta Squad was able to defeat Tiamat. However, Batman was still getting disaster reports. Suddenly, Tiamat arose in a second form.

At 09:59 EST, Batman commended the Team in their moment of loss. He reminded them billions of lives were saved, Dr. Sandsmark was safe, rescue efforts were underway across the globe, and the League planned to destroy the Tiamat statue fragments. He then stated every member knows the risks and Aquagirl's death was not the first nor the last loss they would suffer. Nightwing believed it was time to take the fight directly to the Light but Aqualad was missing. Batman advised everyone to get some rest and signed off. On December 1st, Batman and Robin investigated a case in Gotham City during the crises that emerged from Metropolis. on January 6th, Team Year Six, Batman observed Martian Manhunter's fruitless interrogation of a Krolotean. With Miss Martian's new intelligence, the Team and Justice League partnered on a joint mission to Malina Island. Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin took out guards posted in sector three then infiltrated the base.

On January 26th, Batman left with a group of teammates to Rimbor to stand trial for the 16 hour rampage initiated by the Light. On June 20th, they returned to Earth cleared of all charges. Batman attended Wally West's funeral. On July 4th, Batman announced the Team would operate out of the Watchtower side by side with the League. In January Team Year Eight, Batman and his team responded to the Joker's attacked on the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. While Nightwing, Batwoman, Robin, Batgirl, and Spoiler covertly disarmed Joker's bombs, Batman cut the electricity and dropped down behind Joker. Joker quickly deduced as much. Batgirl saw a young Shadow about to assassinate the Joker and took the sword strike to her back instead. Batman took the Shadows' sword away and stayed at Batgirl's side along with Nightwing while the others dispatched Joker. At some point, Batman formed a secret task force with Wonder Woman, Nightwing, the second Aquaman, Oracle, Miss Martian, and Robin to specifically battle the Light at their own game.

On July 27th, 19:57 EDT, Batman attended an emergency Justice League meeting on the Watchtower. After the second Aquaman and Wonder Woman briefed them on the meta-human trafficking crisis, Batman concluded meta-humans were the next exploitable resource by first world countries, third world countries, rogue nations, and corporations. He called it a global pandemic. Aquaman noted the increasing restrictions placed on the League's United Nations charter by Secretary-General Lex Luthor. Batman believed they had to assume he was working behind-the-scenes to turn other nations against them. Green Arrow pointed out they could not even go out on a humanitarian mission. Batman suggested it was time to acknowledge that the League has outlived its usefulness on Earth.

Wonder Woman found that to be an overstatement. Batman clarified he was offering an alternative. Aquaman disagreed with disbanding because of all the good they do. Batman did not believe they were still accomplishing that. Aquaman insisted the League had a positive impact and was still an important symbol for truth and justice worldwide. Batman stated what mattered was the mission. He concluded if the United Nations was a roadblock to that mission, then they remoeve it by removing the League. Wonder Woman and Aquaman pleaded with him to reconsider. Batman tendered his resignation to the League and stunned everyone. Green Arrow joined him along with Plastic Man, Katana, Hardware, and Batwoman. Black Canary realized the walkout was planned in advance and refused to join them. Robin, Arrowette, and Spoiler also left the Team and joined Batman. He offered Black Lightning to join him but he wanted nothing to do with it, calling his team "Batman Incorporated." He added he did not trust Batman especially after the stunt he just pulled. On July 30th, 14:21 EDT, Catherine Cobert publicly disavowed Batman and his allies who resigned during her address to the General Assembly at the United Nations Meta-Human Summit. Batman took on the hacked designation Z-01.

On September 12th, after 21:39 EDT, Batman was present at the remains of Mad Hatter's base while Robin used Hatter's control device to free Clayface of the nanotech mind control. On September 26th, 02:24 EDT, Batman noted Robin was late for the task force meeting. Robin reported on his squad's monitoring of Mad Hatter, discovering his role with Branchwater planting nanotech on meta-humans, and liberating Clayface. The second Aquaman reported on Sportsmaster extracting Shade for Branchwater and capturing Brick and Abra Kadabra in Star City. While Shade got away, Batman believed they managed to cripple Branchwater in the last few weeks. Batman briefed Wonder Woman about Branchwater, a chain of meta-human traffickers led by Simon Stagg of Stagg Industries. Batman revealed he used Hatter's control device to free Livewire and Mist of nanotech. Wonder Woman asked if it was a win. Batman believed it largely was and asked what troubled her.

Wonder Woman was troubled by all of it, namely coordinating six teams of heroes, none of whom knew they were working together. Batman reminded her that was what they all agreed to do, take a page from the Light's playbook and fight fire with fire. Robin reckoned they were kind of the Anti-Light. Wonder Woman did not find that a good thing and pointed out the opposite of light was darkness. Robin tried to back pedal but Wonder Woman directly stated she did not like keeping the other members of the League in the dark. Batman asserted they needed plausible deniability for a worst case scenario. He pointed out Superman would not lie under oath. Wonder Woman asked him if he thought she would. He noted she could use her diplomatic status as Princess of Themyscira to avoid taking the stand at all. She asked the rest of the task force if they were ready to lie as well. Bruce Wayne declined to appear with Gretchen Goode on the September 29th episode of The G. Gordon Godfrey Show to talk about their donations to the Meta-Human Youth Center in Taos. Godfrey mentioned it during the interview and wondered what Wayne was hiding.

On October 12th, 04:00 ECT, Batman, Metamorpho, and Katana dove from the Batplane at high altitidue and landed on Santa Prisca. After clearing a cavern, Batman parted ways with them. Some time later, Batman infiltrated the League of Shadows' cavern headquarters and took up a post undetected. He listened in on Deathstroke, Cassandra Savage, and Lady Shiva's conversation then departed. He met up with Metamorpho and Katana at the docks to sneak aboard a boat ferrying the latest Venom shipment off island. Bane was expecting Batman and greeted him, joking no one got on or off Santa Prisca without paying first. Batman retorted the Cult of the Kobra, Aqualad, Robin, Kid Flash, Rocket, and Zatanna must have been the exceptions. He charged and they traded blows. Batman noticed he was not using Venom. Bane claimed he found his true strength and no longer needed the crutch. Oracle remotely operated the Batplane to their position and opened fire on the dock and the gun battery. Metamorpho grabbed hold of the Batplan then Katana and Batman grabbed his legs and they left the island. Batman passed intel along to Nightwing that Tara Markov was handed over to someone named "Granny."

On November 4th, 20:07 EST, the Bat-Signal was decommissioned by Commissioner Gordon. On December 8th, 00:01 EDT, the secret task force met in the Batcave the discuss the Outsiders' first mission and their role in ensuring their success. On January 1st, 22:41 UTC, Team Year Nine, Batman disguised himself as "Matthew Malone," the owner of Match Electronics Store in Dublin. As anticipated, the Outsiders arrived after seeing a social media post from his "daughter" asking for their help. He told them she was kidnapped by monkeys and the police did not believe him. They headed for the Radley Overshoe Factory. Matthew and Moira Malone, the latter secretly being Miss Martian, were reunited. At 21:10 EST, the secret task force met in the Batcave to go over the Dublin mission. Batman explained to Wonder Woman it began with Oracle sorting her way through Lexcorp shell companies to find the Dublin factory then Nightwing, Aquaman, and Miss Martian checked it out and discovered Luthor was storing his weaponized Spider Bots.

The task force formulated a plan to use the factory to publicly embarrass Luthor. Batman and Miss Martian posed as Matthew and Moira Malone. A Professor Ivo drone and damaged M.O.N.Q.I.s salvaged from Ivo's last base were repaired, reprogrammed, and operated by Robin by remote control. Wonder Woman deduced only the Outsiders were fooled by the charade. Batman admitted Luthor would know it was a set up but knowing and proving were two different things. She did not approve of the excuse and asked everyone if they realized how truly compromising it really was. Batman stated they were at war. Wonder Woman asked what side they were on and they went beyond lying to comrades and the public - they were now staging false events and creating fake news merely to make their opponents look bad and to make the Outsiders and them look good. Wonder Woman acknowledged they had the best of intentions but declared they were crossing a line. She pleaded with the others that they saw it too.

On January 21st, Batman and Robin were in Africa. On January 22nd, the Bat Family arrived to be at Dick Grayson's bedside as he recuperated from being trapped in a Ghost Dimension by Gretchen Goode. His temperature spiked and brain swelled. They strapped him down and used bags of ice to bring his temperature down. Wayne told Dr. Jace to take a break and they would call her if anything changed. Jefferson Pierce deduced the existence of the "Anti-Light" while Bruce Wayne spoke to Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake, Kaldur'ahm, and M'gann M'orzz in private and erupted. Pierce yelled at Wayne and Kaldur'ahm in the kitchen while Conner Kent and M'orzz argued telepathically. Logan was shocked and confronted both Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake. Garfield Logan was not happy to learn this continued after Artemis faked her death and asked if this was how Batman taught them to treat their friends and teammates. He bet Superman and Wonder Woman wouldn't approve. Gordon revealed the latter was a part of it. He realized they manipulated things in Dublin, too. Gordon revealed Matthew and Moira Malone were Batman and Miss Martian. Logan reached out to Miss Martian psychically about the charade. He was disgusted they corrupted the whole point of the Outsiders.

Pierce was angry about the lack of an apology and stressed the mission did not matter if they lose themselves trying to fulfill it. Grayson tried to take all the blame. Gordon went out to see Wayne on the balcony. Wayne lamented Pierce could not see they were trying to protect everyone. He presumed the debate brought the mission to a grinding halt. Gordon found it patronizing. She pointed out their group were made up of former proteges accustomed to taking orders from him without question and the one member not a protege, Wonder Woman, was in space where she only learned of their actualities by fait accompli. She then asked him if it was "the mission" or just his mission. On February 15th, after 18:31 EST, Batman and most of the task force watched news coverage of the Markovian coup from the Batcave. They were later joined by Green Arrow, Arrowette, Spoiler, and Orphan. On February 20th, 19:48 EST, Commissioner Gordon reactivated the Bat-Signal. On February 24th, 19:00 EST, Nightwing presided over a meeting on the Watchtower of the League, the Team, the Outsiders, and his and Batman's covert teams. Nightwing was surprised just about everyone responded. Batman told him he commanded more respect than he realized.

Nightwing revealed to everyone the actions of the secret group's various manipulations to combat the Light. Aquaman and Wonder Woman, both members, resigned as co-leaders of the Justice League. Nightwing then proposed Black Lightning as the next leader of the League. The vote was unanimous. Lightnining was reluctant to accept and turned to Batman who pointed out he wasn't a member. Lightning countered either he was "in" or he was "out" and there would be no more secrets like the Anti-Light. Batman agreed to fold his team back into the League and Team and adhere to Lightning's stipulations. Nightwing agreed as well and rejoined the Team. Black Lightning accepted the nomination and gave a speech that highlighted his desire to end keeping secret operations from each other and stressed the ends don't justify the means or else they would become what they fought against like Vandal Savage, Ra's al Ghul, Black Adam, and Geo-Force.

At some point, Clayface expressed a desire to turn over a new leaf. His therapists and case workers at Arkham Asylum came to believe that he was sincere. Batman brought Miss Martian after Clayface agreed to a psychic scan. She concurred. Clayface was given a new identity, Harlan Matthews, and started a new job with Will Harper's Bowhunter Security in Star City. On April 20th Team Year Ten, Batman, Nighting, Robin, Batwoman, and Spoiler dealt with a turf war between Penguin and Two-Face. On June 1st, Vulko and Blubber used Batman's samples for both Vandal and Cassandra Savage to confirm Arion's identity during a test in the Science Center. On August 26th, as he fell prey to the Zone Sickness in the Phantom Zone, Superboy hallucinated that he broke Batman's back. On September 16th, Batman attended Conner Kent and M'gann M'orzz's wedding in Happy Harbor. Before the ceremony started, he and the other Leaguers present listened to Black Canary's pitch for a mental health sanctuary for the League and its allies.
