Wotan was born around 1100 C.E. and, in his latest incarnation, is an immortal Viking sorcerer. In modern times, Wotan became a constant adversary of Dr. Fate then the Justice League. He once battled the League with a giant plant beast and soon after, on July 4th, Wotan used the Amulet of Aten in an attempt to blot out the Sun. Zatara requested a full League response. It appears Wotan was defeated sometime before midnight as the Justice League then appeared at Project Cadmus in Washington D.C. to find Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Superboy.
Wotan is a member of the Injustice League. He lent his skill in magic to help control and power the League's Plant Creatures. On October 1st, Wotan imprisoned part of the Team in a cage with magical properties. While on route back to base, Wotan was knocked into the swamp by the Bio Ship. He surfaced and blasted each member of the Team. Aqualad sustained both his and Miss Martian's while she summoned the Bio Ship once more. It dropped off the Helmet of Fate. Once Aqualad donned it, Dr. Fate returned and fought against Wotan. However, Wotan had longed prepared for his return. The Justice League arrived and Zatara rendered Wotan unconscious. On November 5th, 19:46 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), Wotan was summoned to Roanoke Island by Klarion to aid in casting a powerful spell as part of a distraction. He was later defeated by the Justice League and taken away by Dr. Fate.
