Ultra-Humanite is a scientific genius who has lived in more than one body. While in the body of an older woman, he worked in Bwunda with a thin scientist. Together they captured and experimented on gorillas. They murdered a gorilla named Tolifhar and replaced his brain with the woman's. The result was an abomination known as Ultra-Humanite. Living within the body of a gorilla, Humanite lacks the power of conventional speech and communicates with a voice box. Humanite and Mallah then performed a procedure on the thin scientist that turned him into The Brain.
Two years later, in September, Ultra-Humanite continued to operate out of Gorilla City in Bwunda with the Brain and Monsieur Mallah. Humanite was tasked with surgically upgrading the Brain's apes with brain enhancement procedures. He suspected the possibility that the Kobra Venom interfered with the mental enhancements but was unaware one of the subjects, Grodd, gained the power of telepathy. However, during the gorilla subjects' revolution on September 27th, Grodd attacked Ultra-Humanite to avenge Tolifhar and revealed his telepathic powers.
Ultra-Humanite escaped capture and became a member of the Injustice League. He used his scientific acumen to merge technology with nature, in the form of giant Plant Creatures. When the Team intervened on October 1st, Humanite attempted to kill Robin and Miss Martian as they tried to infiltrate the League's base but missed. Superboy and Wolf later fought him. Humanite surrendered when the Justice League arrived.
