Tiamat is an archaic alien weapon of chaos fueled by water with the power to cause global disasters: earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and tidal waves. In Babylonian times, it was sent to Earth by an unknown alien race to devastate the planet from the inside out. It became apparent Tiamat was impervious to damage. Just as Earth was about to be destroyed, a superhero named Marduk used the Tablet of Destiny - an object of Order - to defeat Tiamat, sacrificing himself in the process. He was posthumously inducted into the Babylonian pantheon and given the title "god of gods." In Second Millennium BCE, a statue was engraved with a combination of Babylonian cuneiform and circuitry then broken into four fragments and hidden across the world. Details of Tiamat were kept in the Guardians of the Universe's historical records on Oa.

The conflict between Marduk and Tiamat was also preserved as a version of the Chaoskampf myth, a story that represented the battle between chaos and order. According to myth, Tiamat was set loose to destroy Earth and put an end to the conflict between chaos and order. The gods issued a summons for a hero. Marduk, a young demi-god from Mesopotamia, answered the call. He petitioned the four winds to create lightning and rain to defeat Tiamat. After that, Marduk was inducted into the Babylonian pantheon and his name passed into legend. In the present, the Light wished to use Tiamat as a weapon. Klarion agreed to awaken Tiamat and he would take the Tablet of Destiny.

On September 16th, 21:45 Eastern Standard Time (EST), Team Year Four, Lex Luthor met with the Riddler at Gotham's Museum of Antiquities - in the Babylonian Wing to plan a heist of the first statue fragment. The Riddler took three months and deduced the truth behind the Chaoskampf myth then manipulated it so a dig was started up in Greece. He secretly fed clues to Dr. Sandsmark so she would discover a fragment of the Tiamat statue. In February Team Year Five, Dr. Sandsmark and her team excavated a fragment of the Tiamat statue from a dig site near Olympia but was kidnapped by the Light and forced to locate the other fragments of the statue. On February 15th, 20:00 Moscow Standard Time (MSK), Lex Luthor and Riddler met in Moscow to discuss the statue.

On February 16th, 21:31 Eastern Standard Time (EST), Batman assigned the Team to locate Dr. Sandsmark. They tracked the fragment to the Museum of Natural History in Athens, where it was on display with other artifacts found in Sandsmark's dig. The fragment generated seismic activity and weakened the foundations of the museum. Sportsmaster stole the fragment then took a helicopter to Verhoyansk, where Icicle Jr. extracted another fragment. The Team followed and took both fragments. Nightwing made 3D scans of the fragments, revealing they fit together. Tempest noted the etchings on them could be sigils, indicative of magical properties. Aqualad tasked Aquagirl to gather information on the fragments at the research center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Team pursued a lead to Santa Prisca, where Lex Luthor was overseeing a Light operation ran by Black Manta to uncover another fragment. Alpha Squad confronted them, freed the captured Aquaman and secured their fragment.

The Light began moving LexCorp technology enhanced with sorcery to Bialya in order to awaken Tiamat with. Klarion posed as Tempest and met with Aquagirl at the Metropolitan Museum. He combined all four fragments into one then took a portal to Bialya. Aquagirl followed but was captured. Seismic activity manifested in Greece, Spain, south Arizona, New Zealand, Haiti, Kenya, Bialya, and Russia. A flood occurred in Singapore. A tsunami warning was issued in Japan. On February 18th, the Justice League was sent across the world to help quell the panic and start rescue efforts. More disasters manifested in South America, Taipei, and Antarctica. Klarion sequestered himself in the Sacred Well Room of the Esagila and began preparations to awaken Tiamat. Klarion planned to use his own magic to feed into the LexCorp machines but decided to turn them onto Aquagirl instead. Beta Squad arrived too late and Klarion encased them in a force field then tossed the completed statue into the Sacred Well.

Tiamat arose from the Sacred Well. Klarion and Teekl took the Tablet of Destiny for themselves but Alpha Squad intervened. To their dismay, the Tablet was broken beyond repair in the battle. Beta Squad was able to defeat Tiamat but disasters were still forming. Tiamat rose back up in a second form. Beta Squad attacked Tiamat's arms and managed to defeat it a second time. Debris rained down and destroyed the control panel for the LexCorp tech as Nightwing freed Aquagirl. Tiamat flew up from the well in a third form and conjured minions to aid her in battle. Aquagirl cast her magic to try to keep Tiamat at bay while Beta fought her once more. As Tiamat fell back to the well, Aquagirl pushed herself beyond her limits and sacrificed her life to place Tiamat back into a dormant state. The world was no longer threatened by the multitude of natural disasters. The Justice League confiscated the statue and destroyed it to prevent Tiamat from ever being awakened again. Aquagirl's sacrifice convinced Nightwing it was time to take the fight to the Light's doorstep.
