Selinda Flinders was born in 1992 then took on the codename Shimmer after she joined the Kobra Cult. She soon became Kobra's assistant. In Team Year Zero, when the Kobra Venom was first produced, 18 year old Flinders injected her brother with one ampoule of the drug. He was permanently transformed into a super strong monstrosity. On July 22nd, Shimmer was tasked with fighting Robin then repairing Sportsmaster's sabotaged helicopter. On September 6th, Shimmer and Kobra Cultists broke into the Star City World History Museum after bypassing the security system. While the cultists fought Green Arrow and Artemis, Shimmer escaped by with a cobra dagger. An oil arrow shot by Artemis contained microbeads with built in GPS. Green Arrow and Artemis tracked her to Minneapolis before she changed clothes. On September 12th, Shimmer stood by Kobra's side during a ritual conducted in a New Age monastery. Shimmer was captured and taken to Belle Reve Penitentiary. On December 30th, Shimmer took part in an ambush of the Team in the Smokey Mountains. However, Robin easily bound her with a bola then knocked her out.
In Team Year Six, Shimmer was employed by Queen Bee. She appeared at a secret Bialyan base with Psimon, Devastation, Icicle Junior, and Mammoth. While aiding in a scheduled delivery, Shimmer was rendered unconscious by Miss Martian. Miss Martian took Shimmer's place and hid the real one in an empty barrel. After the Team left the base with the delivery, Mammoth held his still unconscious sister in his arms while Queen Bee berated everyone. Shimmer was later turned over to the Light's partner, the Reach, along with the kidnapped teenagers. On March 30th, Shimmer was freed along with the other teenagers. When she regained consciousness, Shimmer sided with Black Beetle and disarmed a teenager before he could fire a weapon. Shimmer engaged Barbara Gordon in hand to hand combat and was defeated. When Shimmer staggered up, she accidentally activated a newfound superpower that turned elements into gas and a wall vanished. A hull breach was created and flooded the Reach Ship's docking bay. Black Beetle gathered up the unconscious Shimmer and sealed the breach.
Shimmer was returned to Queen Bee and got a better grasp on her new ability. On June 14th, Shimmer battled Batgirl in the secret Bialyan base but was launched into a hole with Mammoth and Devastation. At 20:16 UTC+2, they met with Queen Bee. At some point, she joined Queen Bee's meta-squad Onslaught. On November 1st, 01:44 UTC+3, Team Year Eight, Onslaught was present as part of a security force protecting a meta-human auction held in an abandoned mall in Al-Qawiya. Devastation sent Mammoth and Shimmer to check out the explosion and kill whoever caused it. Forager and Bio-Ship blasted at them outside the mall. Superboy dodged Shimmer while she tried to use her meta-ability on him. She dodged Bio-Ship's blasts then leaped at him but he kicked her. On November 11th, after 22:33 UTC+2, Team Year Ten, Shimmer was part of the Onslaught team waiting inside the Lexcorp Robotics factory in Madinat Altharwati for the Outsiders to arrive. Stargirl tried to blast Shimmer with her Cosmic Staff while evading her disintegration touch.
At 22:42 UTC+2, Stargirl was horrified to watch as Shimmer damaged the Cosmic Staff with her disintegration touch. Shimmer ran towards her but Stargirl angrily knocked her out with a left kick to the face.
