Long ago, Mongul was the sole dictator of his home planet in a galaxy with a red sun. He was later ousted by another tyrant. Mongul wished to reclaim his throne. To do so, he set out to conquer the galaxy. He discovered the lost Crystal Key and reactivated the Warworld. On April 2nd, Team Year Six, Mongul attended the trial of the Justice League on Rimbor. Once Vandal Savage pointed out the dangerous implications of the Reach expanding the meta-population of Earth, Mongul left the proceedings. On May 23rd, Mongul passed Rhea, moon of Saturn. He received a message from the Reach and refused to reverse course. On May 26th, he refused to negotitate with Captain Atom and proceeded to destroy Earth in order to protect his long term plans. However, Dr. Fate destroyed the Warworld's Grand Laser Emitter. Mongul was further insulted when he was confronted by only Superboy, Wonder Girl, Arsenal and Wolf. After taking out Alpha Squad, Mongul returned to the helm and fired all of Warworld's weapons towards Earth.
Bumblebee manipulated the Warworld's power core into overloading the helm. Mongul was severely weakened and was taken down by Alpha Squad. Once he lost consciousness, Wonder Girl tied him up with her lasso. Alpha Squad dragged him back to a loading bay to meet up with the rest of the Team. However, Blue Beetle betrayed and attacked everyone for the Crystal Key. He flipped Mongul's body on top of Wonder Girl then stapled her arms to the floor. Mongul was placed into a stasis chamber along with the Team. On May 30th, Arsenal released Mongul. Mongul immediately attacked Black Beetle. While the two were distracted, the Team and the runaways made their withdrawal. At 10:36 UTC, Green Beetle joined the battle against Mongul. Eventually, Mongul was placed back into a stasis chamber.
