The Kroloteans are an alien race whose culture revolves around stolen technology. A Krolotean on Rimbor learned about the existence of Earth when six members of the Justice League went on a 16 hour rampage. On planet Rann, a member of the Rannian Science Command was bribed to allow the Kroloteans to land their base in the Rannian jungle. They stole some of the interplanetary Zeta Beam technology belonging to Sardath. The Kroloteans landed another ship in New Orleans, constructed more Zeta Platforms, beamed in hundreds of Kroloteans, and began to kidnap and replace humans. They used the humans for experiments and searched for subjects with a meta-gene. On December 1st, 18:03 Eastern Standard Time (EST), Team Year Five, two Kroloteans replaced Noor Harjavti and Bibbo Bibbowski at Bibbo's Diner.
Sardath discovered a signal between Rann and 14 locations on Earth. On January 1st, after 18:23 Eastern Standard Time, Team Year Six, Lobo extracted a Krolotean posing as Secretary-General Tseng in the United Nations Headquarters. G. Gordon Godfrey, with GBS News, got ahold of the building's security footage and played the video, revealing the Krolotean, on January 3rd at 17:04 EST. On January 3rd, Captain Atom proposed a two-pronged attack on the Kroloteans. The Justice League and the Team planned to hit all 14 Krolotean locations simultaneously while Adam Strange took Superboy, Miss Martian, and Beast Boy to Rann.
On January 4th, Nightwing and Wonder Girl encountered one Krolotean in Philadelphia but it got away. Its Zeta Platform was non-operational and no abductees were found. Batgirl, Bumblebee, and Wolf engaged two Kroloteans in Vlatavastok but they also got away. Robin, Lagoon Boy, and Blue Beetle discovered a large Krolotean operation in New Orleans below the water line. The Gamma Squad was discovered and forced to battle the Kroloteans. Their leader recognized Blue Beetle and ordered everyone to the Zeta Platforms while he activated a self-destruct program. With four minutes left, Blue Beetle spoke to a captured Krolotean in its language and helped the squad liberate a group of human prisoners. They escaped in time with the Krolotean and prisoners, including Secretary-General Tseng, Noor Harjavti, and Bibbo Bibbowski.
Meanwhile, on Rann, Superboy, Beast Boy, and Miss Martian arrived with Adam Strange and met Sardath and Alanna. Alanna served as their guide and the squad infiltrated the Krolotean base. They set small target explosives on the six Zeta Platforms but were pinned in when the Kroloteans retreating from Earth arrived. The squad detonated the charges and made a rush for the front door. The Krolotean Captain took two underlings with him, each in a Mech, to capture them. After Miss Martian and Beast Boy were captured, the Captain ordered preparations for departure to Krolotea. The base turned out to be a spaceship. Superboy and Beast Boy attacked the ship and forced it to depart without the Captain. Miss Martain came to and forcefully extracted intelligence about the Justice League's missing 16 hours from the Captain, leaving it in a catatonic state. The other two Kroloteans dragged it into the Rannian jungle.
The Team and Justice League worked together to capture the remaining Kroloteans posing as humans as Martian Manhunter attempted to interrogate the captured one at a private area in the Hall of Justice. The Kroloteans evaded capture and were ferried by the second Black Manta to Malina Island. According to standing orders, if the Kroloteans were discovered they were to journey to the island's secret base and construct a new ship. On January 5th, 17:09 EST, a Krolotean posing as Bibbowski escaped from the Blue Beetle and Bumblebee. On Malina Island, it voiced its belief the Kroloteans were discovered due in part to "The Competitor," who hired Lobo and sent a warrior, whom it took Blue Beetle as, after it. The Light, however, manipulated the situation to destroy the Kroloteans with an alien bomb to please their new partner, "The Competitor."
On April 2nd, at least two Kroloteans were among the crowd at the trial of the Justice League on Rimbor. They were disgusted the bribes paid to the tribunal hadn't sped up the proceedings and that the Earthlings refused to pay restitution. They and the rest of the crowd were very worried upon learning the Reach were on Earth.
