Bane is a supervillain and the ruling power of Santa Prisca. He uses a drug named Venom to temporarily enhance his strength.
The Light formed their own plans to use Venom to create a new and more potent drug called Kobra Venom. Bane's factory was taken by force. On June 19th, he rallied his forces and tried to take it back but they were caught. Kobra made an offer to Bane. If anyone could win in single combat against Kobra's champion, he would leave. Bane stepped forward and was given back his Venom relay system. He fought against Mammoth and was beaten badly. A little over a month later, on July 22nd, Bane forged a temporary alliance with the Team. He hoped the Team and Kobra would destroy each other or if the former failed, the Justice League would finish the job. Then Bane could have his factory back. However, the Team overpowered Bane. They tied him up and stole his explosives, which were used to prevent Kobra's shipment from leaving the island.
Some time later, Bane agreed to a proposal from the Light and became of an ally. In exchange for letting them use Santa Prisca, Bane would be allowed certain consideration such as a cache of Apokoliptian Weaponry. On December 30th, Bane accompanied Lex Luthor, Queen Bee, Sportsmaster, Mercy Graves, Cheshire, and Blockbuster to usher in Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis into the fold. However, once the Team attacked, Luthor signaled Bane to join the battle. Zatanna conjured several clones of Robin to distract Bane while the real one got close enough to pull out the Venom relay tube from the back of his head. Robin then activated his taser and neutralized Bane.
On February 17th, Team Year Five, Bane barred Alpha Squad, led by Aqualad, from entering Atabey's Shrine. Amused by Aqualad's questions, Bane tossed Aquaman's belt buckle to him. Alpha managed to bring Bane to his knees after tricking him into running into several pillars. He made a mad dash at Aqualad only to ram right into a wall and knocked himself unconscious.
