Amazo is a highly advanced cybernetic android built by a rogue scientist named Professor Anthony Ivo. Amazo has the power to replicate special abilities of any super powered being in its immediate proximity. It doesn't appear to take on weaknesses but Amazo can only use one power at a time and can only act from Ivo's orders. After an incident with the Justice League, Ivo sent the android to destroy them.
On August 3rd, between 7:38 and 13:06 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), Team Year Zero, Amazo fought Green Arrow and Black Canary in Litchfield County then Superman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Captain Atom, and Red Tornado. Amazo managed to duplicate all of the available superpowers but was defeated and disassembled after a four hour battle.
Amazo's parts where then scheduled to be transported to the Boston and Massachusetts branches of S.T.A.R. Labs for analysis. Ivo sent his MONQI androids to extract Amazo and bring it back to his transport. At 21:21 EDT, Amazo was reassembled and was given a priority alpha order to destroy Superboy, who arrived to stop Ivo. Amazo obeyed and punched Superboy several yards into the nearby Gotham City Academy. The battle continued as Superboy's teammates joined in. Unable to defeat it, they began to attack at Professor Ivo and tricked him into ordering Amazo to protect him. While shifting from Martian Manhunter's phasing ability to Superman's, Amazo was decapitated by Superboy. It was quickly disassembled and successfully sent to S.T.A.R. Labs.
Eventually, another Amazo was built but it was also disassembled. The parts were put on display in the Hall of Justice. After the Hall's destruction, the Amazo parts were salvaged and sent to S.T.A.R. Labs Taos on May 13th, Team Year Six, for temporary storage in their vault. Red Volcano soon invaded S.T.A.R. in search of Amazon's head. Nightwing believed it wanted to incorporate Amazo's technology and ordered Blue Beetle to prevent that from happening since he was the closest to S.T.A.R. and its Zeta-Tube was off-line. It turned out Amazo's head was sent somewhere else as insurance it wouldn't be rebuilt.
