The Water Totem is one of five Anansi Totems built by the trickster god Anansi. It represents the element of water. The totem was given to a chief of one of the five great Zambesi tribes. Nearly a thousand years later, the totem was lost as the age of colonialism changed the landscape of Africa. The Water Totem changed many hands before it ended up an America auction in the present. The winning bidder believed the totem to be a mere collectible and stored it with the rest of his assets at his estate in Star City. Unbeknowst to him, Kuasa had kept track of the totem's movements in hopes of one day having the strength and wealth to return it to its rightful place in Zambesi.
Two months later, Mari McCabe and Professor Macalester sought out Kuasa in Africa. Kuasa believed the Water Totem was the best of the other four to combat the Fire Totem. She claimed to know its location and wished to join the fight. Vixen and Kuasa infiltrated the estate and found the totem. Kuasa donned the totem, set off the security system, and tried to escape with it. Vixen anticipated this and came up with a back up plan. The Atom and Black Canary stopped Kuasa in the city. Vixen convinced her to help avenge Zambesi and defeat Eshu. Kuasa failed to neutralize Eshu's power and was engulfed in flames. She refused to run away and was apparently vaporized along with the Water Totem.
