Gotham City's Wayne Manor hides a fantastic secret. The Great Great Grandfather of Bruce Wayne took part in the Underground Railroad, which helped transport escaped slaves north. He utilized a series of caverns under the Manor's southwest wing. Generations later, Bruce Wayne re-discovered the caverns. He used the space to engineer his arsenal and suit and kept a small space to hold them. The Batmobile is also parked here. Over the years, it grew in size and furnishings, including the Batcomputer, Batcycle, and Batwing. Its entrance and exit is a cavern opening obscured by a false retractable hedge.
Besides Batman, only Alfred Pennyworth and his various partners such as Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Barbara Gordon are privy to its location. Eventually, the Batcomputer was linked to a vast wireless network. It seems that it can link up to one of Batman's wiretaps from anywhere in Gotham City. After Todd's death, Batman hung his costume in a glass display. Even after he was revealed to be alive again, Batman kept the costume unaltered.
