Selina Kyle was once a prostitute in Gotham's East End but Batman's debut 'inspired' her to change careers. She became a cat burgular named Catwoman and robbed from the corrupt. Over time, she developed a complicated relationship with Batman and eventually discovered his secret identity. At some point, Kyle retired and opened a callgirl service, Kyle Escorts. Time was not kind to her. Months after Batman's return, Kyle was paid a visit by the Joker. He kissed her with Mind Control Lipstick on and gained access to one of her girls, Elsie. As a plot to distract Superman with nuclear strikes over the Corto Maltese, Joker brainwashed Elsie and in turn had her brainwash her client, Congressman Noches. Joker then dressed her up as Wonder Woman and left her tied up in a room. Batman and Robin found her and freed her. Before departing, Batman wiped away the lipstick and kissed Kyle. Commissioner Yindel ordered Kyle to be brought in for questioning and had her business shut down. Kyle attended Bruce Wayne's funeral and admonished Clark Kent for attending. James Gordon convinced her to back down from striking him.
