The Fairgrounds is an amusement park located in Gotham City complete with a roller coaster, House of Mirrors, and Tunnel of Love. Every late autumn, Carrie Kelley and Michelle made it a tradition to attend opening day every year. The Joker used it as the location of his last battle against Batman. He left cotton candy at Kyle Escorts as a clue for Batman. As Batman and Robin arrived, Joker and Abner vacated a free cotton candy stand. As Joker raced across the Fairgrounds, leading Batman to the House of Mirrors, Abner pursued Robin up a roller coaster about to be blown up by the doll Mary. Robin dispatched both then summoned the Batcopter while Batman pursued Joker into the Tunnel of Love. Batman nearly killed Joker but left him alive. However, two witnesses mistook the Joker for dead. The Joker finished himself off, gloating the police would have no choice but to kill him. Commissioner Yindel and the police engaged Batman but failed to arrest him. In the aftermath, dozens were hurt or killed by the Joker.
