Lois Lane is the Daily Planet's star reporter. She's a savy, stubborn and sly newswoman. Lane strives to be appreciated solely for her brains and hard, quality work. As a reporter, she's a complete professional, never biasing her stories or slinging mud. Though she takes big risks to get a story, they are always calculated. Despite this, Lane is known as a danger magnet and is often kidnapped by super villains.
Growing up, Lois Lane and her family moved from state to state. Sam Lane, her father, was a military officer. Since then, she built up an emotional wall and became an independent woman. After high school, she moved to Metropolis, settled at the Metropolis Garden Apartments and worked at the Daily Planet.
When Superman first appeared in Metropolis, Lane couldn't help but be a little suspicious. Is he for real? Is he really as good as he seems? What does he really want here on Earth? Lane dubbed the mysteryious hero as Superman and later befriended him. She also met a new co-worker named Clark Kent, who happened to live in the same building as her. The more Lane witnessed Superman's exploits, the more she believed his intentions were genuine. Together, they built up a relationship and mutual affection for each other over the years.
While in Gotham City to cover Superman's appearance at the Gotham Reborn event, Lane was embroiled in a scheme to lure the hero into yet another trap. The combined might of Superman, the Batman, and Robin was enough to save her from Black Mask and associates. Lane then revealed that Lex Luthor engineered the kidnapping.
