Real Identity: John and Mary Grayson

John and Mary Grayson make up two thirds of the Flying Grayson's act for Haley's Circus. John Grayson is also the Circus' manager. Together, John and Mary had one son, Richard. While in Gotham City, Tony Zucco attempted to extort protection money out of them but the Grayson's refused. Luckily, the Batman intercepted a call to the police from the Circus and attacked Zucco. He swore revenge and sabotaged the Flying Grayson's swings. During a performance, everyone helplessly watched in horror as John and Mary Grayson fell to their deaths. Bruce Wayne, who was in the crowd, paid for their funeral and vowed to avenge them as the Batman so that their son wouldn't be consumed by the desire for revenge. As a tribute, a painting of John and Mary hangs in Wayne Mansion.
