Chuck Gorman is a Gotham businessman who often utilizes researchers from Gotham University to create new and innovative products. Gorman approached Edward Nashton about his external bio hard drives but Nashton refused. Nashton's partner, Julie, had other ideas. During a demonstration of the drives for the University's President at Gorman's home, Julie secretly sabotaged the drive. After Nashton resigned in disgrace, Julie sold the drives to Gorman who eagerly accepted.
Nashton thought Gorman was the culprit and rigged his home as a death trap but the Batman saved Gorman's life. Some time later, Nashton, now the Riddler, attacked a shipment of Gorman's drives only be trapped at the bottom of the Gotham Harbor with Batman.
