The Murakami Lion is a prized relic of the samurai era of Japan. It is kept in the private collection of mob lord, Hideo Katsu. The Lion, made of jade, was actually the repository of a data mini disc that contains a chart of the Yakuza mob family and most likely a copy.
It accompanied him to Gotham City and was guarded by an infrared security system. Since the Lion had a cat motif, it became the target of Catwoman. She failed to get it the first time but utilized Batman's technology in the second attempt. In the end, the Lion was shattered into pieces.
